Dear Diary
"My mother finally got me the iPhone 21 Ultimate Max, but she ended up messing up my order at her restaurant 'Raven's Red Potatoes.' Well, that's it for today's diary episode, nothing else interesting happened today - Kayla. Wow! I had just realized I spent 5 hours writing in my diary. I slightly chuckle, time flies so fast. I watch outside the window as the sky immediately shifts to a darker blue, the moon gets more visible, and I struggle to keep my eyes open. Some sleep would do me good. I give in and close my eyes. Fast forward to the next day I wake up in my room, realizing it was already three minutes past lunch. I get up, get dressed, and hurry down stairs. "You woke up late," Mom says, she actually had a smile on her face for once. She's usually so jaded. "Your happy today," I tell mom mockingly. She smiles and her face lights up with glee. "Well, I finally earned a vacation from work! But, that's not it! A forty-dollar raise!" My mom practically jumps, well for half a second. "What would ya like for lunch?" Mom asks me, stepping into the kitchen. "Hmm, a salad sandwich."
"Coming right up!" I hear footsteps and a thumb, it turns out to be my five year old brother Jayen. "Don't do that honey!" Mom shouts. Jayen looks puzzled. "Sorry mommy." He says in his adorable Jayen voice. Mom just pats him on the head. "Alright! Here's your salad sandwich," Mom hands it to me with grace. I chow down on the meal faster than I ever have. I wash my hands, then go to my room. As soon as I entered I knew something was wrong. Something I love. Something I use every dang day. My diary. Hmm, where could it be? Did someone steal it? No, I always lock my door, I'm very cautious and scared of someone finding my diary. I have a lot of comments about friends and family they might not like. As that concludes the fact that no one entered my room. Wait-that doesn't conclude that. My best friend John is pretty nosy. He has gone to quite the limits due to his curiosity. And I don't remember that window being open last night, actually not at all. I could be overthinking things though. It'll probably pop up. Like most missing things do. I decided to call him on the phone. He picked up to the face time.
"Hey Kayla!" He says with a happy smile.
"Did you steal my diary?" I ask seriously. I give him a dirty look on the face time, I can't tell if he picked up on that.
"Why would I?" He asks in a vexed tone.
"Because I know how nosy you are."
"Yeah," he says. "But my best friends diary? Nah, I wouldn't stoop that low. But I have something a little scary to tell you." He continues.
"Well, what is it?"
"Alright, well when I was passing by the neighborhood with my car, I thought I saw someone go through the window. I figured it was you sneaking out or something, but they looked way taller."
"What the hell! Of course it wasn't me! Some weirdo must've taken the diary," I exclaim on the phone.
"Okay, well I'm sorry," He says sadly.
"AH!" I scream, knocking of my study book.
"I gotta go. Talk to you later," John says.
I should take a nap to get my mind off things. I get comfortable and put on a blanket. I close my eyes for around forty-five seconds.
Boom!
A loud noise causes me to open my eyes. I get up from the bed. My diary! It's back on the floor. I check my surroundings, the window was closed. But what scares me to the core is I never closed it.
I open my diary, about to write in it despite the creepy things happening here. But I was surprised to see another page written down. I read carefully the words "RUN" are in all capitals covered in some sort of red liquid. I shudder to think it's blood.
And, that's not all. There's a phone number, kind of hidden. Like it didn't want anyone to see. But who.
(222) 555-1567
I called the number on the phone, slightly scared. This could just be some kid pulling a prank. Wait-no-John said the mysterious figure climbing through my freaking window was tall. My thoughts were immediately interrupted when I picked up the phone.
"Who the hell is this?" I shout on the phone. I hear intense breathing.
"Look, my name is Kayla Alice Wilson, or you." She says.
"How do you have my name? If you are just here to prank me it's not gonna work. So just get off the dang phone," I exasperate.
"Listen to me! Time traveling was invented in the future. I have to warn you now! John is not who you think he is. He's psychotically obsessed with you, or should I say me. You only have about 2 minutes before he comes, just get out now!"
I could tell this was serious, not a joke. But where would I run? Is John really crazy?
I don't even have time to think. I'm greeted with a window smashing from downstairs. I hide under the bed. The sound of gunshots go off and I hear screams. Footsteps get louder and louder as someone walks up the stairs. He steps into my room. He checks the closet, I'm not in there. He's just about to walk out the room but he stops. My heart starts to pound. My breath get's slightly louder. Is this the end? It sounds like he picked something up, I'm guessing it was a gun. Thank god he didn't notice me. All of a sudden his heads pops down in front of me. "Hello Kayla," he says devilishly. He pulls my hand and drags me out from under the bed.
"Now, let's talk," He says with a grin. I couldn't say a word like I was paralyzed. All that came out was my heavy breathing.
"I'm sick and tired of being friend-zoned all the time! I love you!"
"B-b-but I don't love you back! Where's my family?" I ask frightened. He chuckles.
"Let's just say... they're watching over us."
"No!"
My eyes shift to the stairway as I see my mother and brother covered in blood. Their eyes so haunted.
"No, no, no, no, no!" I scream.
"Be my girlfriend if you don't want to end up like them," he says holding me.
"Not in a million freaking years!" I spit in his eye. He gets something from his pocket. "Open wide," John says evilly. I try to resist but he open my mouth with one hand. With the other arm he slips something in.
"What did you do?"
"Love drug. A Love drug
"L-love-"
Everything gets dizzy and I feel my body collapse on the floor.
2 years later
"Do you take this woman to be your lawfully wedded wife?"
"Yes," John replies.
"And do you take this man to be your lawfully wedded husband?"
"Yes. Yes," I say.
The end
This is my entry. This took a lot of work and thought process. I imagine the other participants are much better than this. I kind of wish I took the challenge earlier, but it is what it is. Hope you liked it, but do note I have made better - Tyshawn Bone
