I was a very imaginative as a child, when I dreamt of a spaceship named 'the Crystal Palace' that I played in with a boy named Henry, who called me Princess. Reality now is far too bleak, as I am known as 'the irritable one' at work by my colleagues and clients alike. Even though I work in vacation planning, which I love, I just can't get over my nasty temper.
"I'd like to speak with Mr. Daring," a somewhat familiar voice said.
"Why would you like to speak with a nasty person like that?" One of my colleagues asked in a rather loud whisper.
"He's my friend," the man said, "I need to speak with him."
"He doesn't have any friends that we know of," another colleague said, "How would I know if you're telling the truth?"
"He should be able to recognize me," the man said, "Where is he?"
"He's in the back corner of the building," the first colleague said.
"Thank you," the man said. He came to my office and I almost instantly remembered him. It was Henry from my childhood dreams. He was real? You would've thought with his naturally light blue hair that he was fake, but his green eyes looked at me with surprise and an immense happiness that only Henry would show.
"Henry?" I asked in an incredulous tone, "I thought I dreamt you up."
"Viktor, it's me, Henry Bergen. It's been 15 Earth years, how have you been?" Henry said.
"I'm okay," I said, "Wait, 15 Earth years?"
"Yes," Henry said, "We've been looking for you everywhere."
"But I was born and raised here," i said, "I was abandoned as a baby."
"That's not true," Henry said, "You were kidnapped at age 9."
"Why should I believe you?" I asked. Henry took out a weird device and pressed a button that projected a small video of Henry and I playing as children, like I remembered from my dreams.
"Is that enough evidence, Princess?" Henry asked.
"I guess," I said. Henry smiled and turned off the projector.
"Alright, I'll report to the Crystal Palace that the Princess and I will return," Henry said, "And they will teleport us back to the ship, momentarily." Henry pulled back his shirt to reveal a bracelet with buttons on it and brought it to his face and spoke in a familiar tongue that I couldn't quite place how I knew it or where it was from. But in the language he said "I have the Princess, please send word and bring us home." Suddenly, everything around us changed and I felt so nauseous that I threw up.
"It's the Princess!" Several people shouted in that oddly familiar language as soon as I regained my composure, and brushed myself off. It was surreal, being here on the ship I had dreamt about as a child.
"I don't like this," I whispered in my usual language as everyone made way for Henry and I, while muttering the news of my return.
"Just wait until you meet the Queen," Henry said in the same language as me, "You'll recognize her, she's your Mother."
"I don't have any recollection of having a Mother," I muttered, but followed Henry. This place had a weird feeling, like I knew this place, but it also wasn't familiar at all. I was a bit scared as the confusion in my mind had started to grow rather than lessen. It was almost as if something was starting a battle in my mind between my memories of childhood and what I thought was simply a dream.
"Princess, it's so great to see you finally return home," a woman I didn't know said as Henry and I walked to see the woman who was supposedly my Mother. Henry stopped to talk to her, so I did as well.
"She's a bit out of it, Melody," Henry said, "She seems to be brainwashed into believing some rather strange things."
"Oh no," the woman said, "So, she doesn't recall me? I was her nurse when she was young."
"She just barely recalled me," Henry said, "She seemed to think that she only dreamt of this place."
"If she's that bad, she might be in grave danger," a man said, "Let me treat her before she sees the Queen. If my guess is correct, the Princess might not be able to embrace the change and her mind might break if left untreated." A door I didn't see before opened to reveal a woman who looked just like me, medium brown hair and green eyes. Her hair was much longer than mine and for some reason she carried a presence that declared that she was in charge. Everyone bowed, except for me.
"What a ridiculous notion, doctor," the woman who looked like me said, "I just want to see my child." She turned to look at me. "Princess Viktorea Adelaide Royal, it is wonderful to see you again."
"My Queen, she doesn't know our language," Henry said.
"Don't be ridiculous, Henry," the brunette said as she reached out to touch my face, but I backed away. I suddenly got a massive migraine, the pain making me cover my eyes for comfort.
"Don't touch me," I said, "I don't understand. My head hurts." Suddenly, I felt like I was grabbed and taken away.
