Chapter 2
As I returned with Adam and Edward outside the mansion where the rest of the pack was living. While ignoring my wounded body, Ruth Lane, the silver-haired, cold heart bitc* grabbed my neck and wanted to kill me, she loved Levine but her wish to spend a night with him was never fulfilled because Levine never gave her the opportunity, she thought I was her competition.
"I will kill you," Ruth raged.
"At the very least, be patient until the truth comes out," Adam said, keeping her away from me.
"There's nothing to see when everyone already knows the truth," Ruth said.
Not only Ruth, but some of the other members were staring at me as if they wanted to burn me alive, their hateful gaze piercing my heart, and all I could do was avoid eye contact with them all. When the crowd grew larger, Adam stepped in front of me to face them all.
"Stay back, this isn't the way," Adam cautioned everyone.
When the mess started, my husband Xavier was supposed to be with me instead of Adam, but I didn't see him for two days. They were all out for my blood, and my husband was nowhere to be found. He used to say he would protect me until his last breath, but he showed me the reality of not showing up in my defense.
"How could you possibly take her side?" Ruth inquired.
"I'm not taking sides here; giving people a fair chance to prove themselves is not wrong; all we have to do is be patient," For a while, Adam did his best to keep hungry wolves away from me.
"Why did she flee when she was innocent?" Cruel Ruth inquired.
I looked up at my room's window.
where I noticed the curtain was moving slightly. I could smell his scent in the air, and I knew Xavier was watching me 2 seconds ago.
"She's back now, so stop causing problems," Adam said.
"Trouble? That bitc* has been causing havoc since she arrived, and I would not let her go this time" Ruth stated
Everyone became aggressive, but before they hurt me, Adam took me to the dungeon, which was the safest place at the time, with a few lanterns lighting up the area.
I already knew what I should do next, so I went to prison and shut the door. Adam was saddened to see my condition, and he couldn't look me in the eyes. He took a look around the prison while locking me inside.
"You'd be safe here but not outside, sorry," Adam said solemnly.
"Thank you, but please don't do anything for me; I can't see you in trouble because of me."
"You'll be fine," Adam said before leaving, The last person I saw was Adam.
Breathing Sound!
The only sound that gave me the impression that I was alive at the time was the sound of a water drop. Other than that, my breath was the only sound I heard, and I was lying on the floor, unable to move.
I smelled like rotten meat and was surrounded by rats, who acted as if I didn't know what their intention was. They were waiting for me to die so they could lick my bruises.
It has been three days. I did not know whether the moon was shining or the sun was kissing the sky. Because all around me is darkness. But I could smell petrichor, so I knew it was raining outside.
As the door opened, I heard
The sound of air rushing through an open door. There was a shivering, icy sound. As footsteps approached, I moved my injured body to sit because I had not been sufficiently prompted to do so previously.
As she reached toward my cell while holding a candle, my dim vision became clear. She belonged to the pack and was a good friend of mine, Amara.
"You should not be here," I said.
as she was just staring at me and unable to speak.
"What are you doing here?" I inquired.
"What happened to you?" She asked.
Amara was trying hard not to be emotional at the time by observing my condition, so I remained silent as I observed her sadness.
"Wounds that haven't been treated might be a problem." She seemed worried
"But I am still alive," I responded,
Amara extended the napkin-wrapped piece of meat to me as she pulled it out. Hidden from the recent gazes that had been on me.
"You gonna need strength." She said sadly
She knew I had a long way to go, many things to endure, and many paths to cross alone. She was the one and only person I saw in the dungeon after three days. I thought I would die here alone; that's the punishment I got, but who knew that was just a small piece of the larger picture I was going to watch throughout the time.
I took the piece of meat from her and began eating like a madwoman without worrying about getting choked. Imagine how you would have reacted if you were at my place. I wolfed down the meat in a flash.
"I am sorry," Amara said
"That's my cruel fate; no matter where I go, it's always been the same."
Amara was hurt when she saw my condition. Despite having injured my body, having dirt on my nails and feet, and feeling hopeless, I pretended everything was fine.
"Did they hurt you?" Amara inquired.
"Not more than my life," I replied
"You shouldn't have come back here," Amara said,
"Are you afraid? I have heard the oak pack doesn't back down from doing justice." I said
"You don't know how much they want to get rid of you, all of them; you are not safe here." Amara Said
"At least I Have a husband as a Judge; He will protect me," I said confidently.
I knew Amara was hiding something because she didn't speak.
"Does Xavier also believe that I am guilty?" I asked because I was curious.
"It doesn't matter what he thinks. As an oak, he must follow the rule. That never happened before. No husband had ever been a judge in his wife's trial," Amara stated.
"Then this trial would be history," I said while acting cool and snickering at my destiny from within.
"Do you feel afraid?" Amara inquired.
I was afraid, but I was expecting justice, so I didn't know what to say to her.
"Tell Xavier for me I didn't mean to break his heart," I said in a broken voice, as I was also deeply hurt.
"Did you kill Levine?" Amara inquired after gathering courage.
She was curious, just like other people, but she was asking me not to blame me.
"If I told you, would you believe me?" I asked.
"I trust you in every way." Amara was certain.
"Why?" I inquired.
"Because you are my friend," Amara stated,
She was the one who stood by me in every weather when I was expecting my husband by my side. I never had a female friend in my life; I never believed her, and I never knew what friendship was like.
Amara held my hand as the footsteps woke us up. Slipped the small knife into my pocket in secret.
She said, "In case you'll need this," and then she turned to look at two Omegas walking toward us.
Why did she give me the little blade when the Oak Pack does not do injustice and follows equity? She didn't believe her companions. Shouldn't I also have faith that justice would be served?
I was going to prepare for the most anticipated moment for everyone, the trial; they all wanted me dead more than they wanted the truth. I wasn't sure.
Two Omegas affixed the silver-coated steel handcuffs to my feet and hands while wearing protective gloves. I could feel a slight burn on my skin.
"You will be fine if you don't resist," Omega said Before I walked with them
"That's going to be tough, but protect yourself as much as you can." Omega 1 stated
"What do you mean?" I asked because I was curious.
"You'll see," Omega 2 predicted.
I noticed a rainbow in the evening sky as I emerged from the dungeon. I was correct about the rain.
I was shackled. That 15-minute walk was the most difficult because werewolves were yelling and cursing me, and I had no choice but to remain silent because they did not even want to hear my perspective or my side of the story. While some of them were attempting to harm me, omegas in their immediate vicinity shielded me.
"Try to remain within the circle." Omega 1 instructed me,
That little strolling way was brimming with distress and lament as I felt l was strolling by the fire.
burning my heart and soul, I realized I was taking steps toward my demise.
