You can only learn so much knowledge before your head hurts. That’s what it feels like for me. Every day I’m forced to read book on book searching for something that could lead me to answers about the Swan conjures. The Swan conjures are people who have close connections with Swans. Normally they have certain powers and can turn into swans. They can also communicate with these animals very easily. Despite this, they are far more powerful than mind conjures- just because they are known the have more and stronger powers than them. There aren’t that many Swan conjures. Most of them fled to the south after the battle of 1970 Eternia and Amberia, while others spread all over the globe.
They say that the last Swan conjure in this area died last year due to a common death like a car crash. I’m not really too sure that it’s true. They say that it’s rare for a Swan conjure to also be a mind conjure, but they didn’t say it was impossible. There have been some pretty great heroes in Amberia and Eternia that were Swan and mind conjures. My clan thinks that all Swan conjures should be dead. I’m in the middle. I don’t think they should die, but they shouldn’t be alive either. I was finishing up my third book for the day when Michael stepped into my room.
"There have been sightings of a Swan conjure in the area. Find any way to kill them, and you might just gain the spot as leader,”
Michael was the leader of our clan. Our strongest. He could go into five minds at a time, and make them do whatever he pleases. I’m the second strongest. I can go into three minds at a time, but only for a certain amount of time. It was my personal goal to get the role of leader. I would do whatever it takes. I didn’t look at him.
“Are you proposing a deal?” I asked. There was a smile in his voice. “Maybe. All you need to do is kill them and leak whatever information you could out of them,” I stood and looked at him. I wasn’t the murderer type, but this was something that I’d been wanting for years.
“Which location were they sighted in?” I crossed my arms over my chest. “Near Marian high school.” Michael moved his long hair away from his masculine face. I looked him up and down and pinched the bridge of my nose. I didn’t know who this person was or what threat they could possibly hold, but It was worth a shot. “
Fine,” I told him, resting my hand at my side. He smirked and held out his hand. “So do we have a deal?” His emerald eyes looked into mine. A hint of excitement and sharpness lay in the emptiness of his pupils. I hesitated but eventually shook his hand. “Excellent. You’ll attend school tomorrow,” He turned and walked out of the entryway of my room. Something stirred inside of me, and I wondered if I had made the worst decision of my life.

I walked into the classroom on my first day of high school. Students were everywhere- some were sitting at desks talking while others were laughing or sitting quietly. I sat at an empty desk and waited for class to start. Suddenly, a girl walked in and was instantly greeted by one of her friends. A strange aurora emerged from around her. She moved her long, wavy brown hair away from her face. Something was off about her. Could she be a swan conjure? I focussed my energy on her mind- blocking out the rest of the student’s thoughts and attempting to leak into her mind. 137Please respect copyright.PENANAKTzt2F7eUY
Strange energy blocked mine, and it pounded my head like a sharp sword. What was that? And why wasn’t I able to leak into her mind? Obviously, she had felt something too because her fingers immediately met her temples and she rubbed them hard. I tried again- and instantly got knocked back. And then I remembered that some mind conjures can keep shields around their minds. To protect them from other conjures. That’s what Michael did. It was why I was never able to get into his mind. But this was a normal human. How would she be able to keep a shield around her mind? She looked at me and our eyes met. I realized then that this whole time I had been staring at her. I quickly moved my gaze to the window. Feeling my cheeks get hot. Teachers were outside looking for students that weren’t in class.
The girl sat down in her seat- which was next to mine. Just my luck. I sank down in my seat. She was quiet and didn’t say much in class. A few occasional hand-raised answers to the teacher and a few giggles every once in a while. I sighed and laid my head down. This was gonna be a long day.
