Prologue:
How did we end up Here?

This is what we’re taught.
Earth, humanity’s former home planet was no longer sustainable. Crops could not be grown, it rained nothing but acid, and slowly but surely became nothing more than a wasteland. Government officials foresaw this decline in sustainability, and because of that, they were prepared for the worst. So when the day finally came when they knew there was no hope left- groups of humans who had managed to survive the unlivable conditions were all divided and sent into different spacecraft.
The ships everyone was placed in were stocked up with humanity’s very last of everything, as each ship would set sail through a sea of stars- hoping to find other planets that could host human life. Each of these ships had different routes that the captains believed would lead us to somewhere hospitable.
Many were forced to say goodbye to their loved ones as they boarded their assigned ships. All everyone had was their hope to cling to, as they ventured into the unknown.
One of these ships known as the S.S. Moses lead a portion of humanity to planet VALI. This is where I currently reside. Upon approach, the S.S. Moses was sucked into the planet’s atmosphere- and all contact with other ships was lost (Though this was to be expected).
Conveniently enough, this planet’s atmosphere was perfect for humans.
President Zydon decided the years would restart, as time would be redefined on this new planet. He spent the first decade finishing the prebuilt city and its outer walls so that most could feel at home- and the homesickness could subside… at least somewhat.
This city, Yunizaru, is an improvement upon all of the major cities from Earth, with its biggest inspirations coming from New York, Tokyo, and Hong Kong. The neon lights, lengthy skyscrapers, and bustling streets were nothing to sneeze at. As the city progressed, a specialized group of trained individuals known as The VSF or “VALI Special Forces” Would keep the city protected from native creatures on the planet.
The VSF were the only people allowed to leave the city, as the outer world was declared “unsafe” for everyday citizens. Rumors of hostile indigenous creatures swirled amongst the people- so most were too afraid to leave anyway and took no issue with this policy.
Once the city was finished, the next goal was to secure resources that would help sustain humanity once the leftovers from S.S. Moses ran out. Top scientists found ways to recreate beloved foods, medicines, and more from Earth out of the resources available in the surrounding area. This made the city feel just like home to those from Earth, and many were able to slowly but surely get used to their new life.
The new generation of which I am a part is of people who were born here. For us, we don’t know a ton about Earth outside of what we’re taught in school. For us, VALI is our home and always has been.
For the most part, everyone is content with things as they are now.
It is currently year 32AL. According to official reports, the President’s new focus is learning more about the planet we inhabit- with hopes to expand his reach and build new cities all over.
Our current location is a region officially dubbed “Ebenen”... from what they say it’s a grassland, with plains and large rock formations and all kinds of stuff, but I’ve never left the city… so I haven’t seen it.

…But soon enough that’s all going to change.
