After many months of failure, mockery and pushed down to the floor, Micheal finally got it right. And this time he was the star in his team. Not like every teenager, MJ; as he was mostly known, shortened for Micheal James, was from one of the poorest families in Brooklyn. James Peter his father, had moved his family to the city as an unauthorized immigrants. Which made him lose many opportunities to get high paying jobs and a comfortable residence. His wife Ann, died giving birth to their second child at home with poor medical help as she wasn't able to get properly registered in the hospital.
Micheal lived his days, wanting to make a change. Even though Peter tells him all the time that he should quit lazing around with the ball. "You only bring disgrace to yourself and I every single time you practice in that court with them. If only Ann survived with our child, I could have gotten a better son or daughter." Peter would rap these words whenever he came back with swollen face and red eyes but still he just couldn't stop. It was more than just playing, it was his only way to make that change he has always craved for. And loves it whenever he gets bullied.
Crazy.
So did Samuel his buddy say all the time. But when the bully gets him angry, it made him practice more and perfect his skills.
Micheal stood, one hand by his side and the other resting on his waist with the basketball under his open hand. Staring at the hoop 10feets from the ground. The loud cheer from the crowd sent a cold chill running inside him. His heart beats faster.
"Can I do this?" He said in an undertone.
"You gat to prove your worth to your father and everyone else." His personal adviser replied.
