Personality:
Anubis is widely misunderstood and is actually quite pleasant and compassionate despite his title; though independent, and prefers to work alone. There are times when he even hates his job, and isn't afraid to admit it. He's surprisingly well-versed in pop culture and often references it.

Background:
The Egyptian god of the dead, Anubis was born to Nepthys disguised as Isis, and Osiris. Nepthys desperately wanted a child but Set didn't. Fearing that he would harm her son if he found out about her infidelity, she knew she had to give him up, and placed him in a basket, which she sent floating down the Nile for many days and nights. The young god survived the journey and was later found by Isis. Despite learning of her sister's unfaithfulness, she adopted him, and named him Anubis. When Osiris was killed by Set, and cut into pieces, Anubis along with Isis set out to find the pieces of his body. He was the one who mummified and embalmed his father after he was put back together, allowing him to come back to life and take over as the god of the underworld. His half brother, Horus, was conceived as Osiris was dying. He's credited with the invention of embalming and is considered the guardian of the dead, and of graveyards. He often jokes that his origin is like a horrible romance novel.
