He didn't know what to think as he looked down, all he could think about, was the fact that he was falling slowly towards the earth. He could barely tell at first, but quickly noticed his body had changed.
As his body tumbled towards earth, he noticed he could breath, and that he could still feel the gravitational pull of the earth.
He could still feel it because he was so giant, despite being in space, a portion of his body was still within the atmosphere.
What do I do? What is happening? He thought, while he felt so little in control, while being in control.
"What's that in the sky?" Echet said.
"It looks like the shadow of a foot. A foot cloud." Jen guessed.
"Why is it becoming bigger?"
"Growing foot cloud?" Jen said.
All phones in the Washington area went off. It was an alarm. Ringing, with text covering every screen of it. Not only phones, but everything.
"ALARM. EVACUATE THE AREA, OR GET INTO A SEVERELY STRONG BUNKER, BRACE FOR IMPACT."
Panic ensued. People running away, people running to get their kids, people driving at high speeds, not taking a care for anyone else.
"WE WILL BE SHORTLY ENCOUNTERING A METEOR-LIKE SCENARIO."
The two kids looked up at the cloud, fully acknowledging that it's not a cloud.
"Well what do we..."
"We are in the middle of Washington, and we are in a park, nowhere near any bunkers." Jen says.
"So..." Echet says.
"I guess we just die."
"I'm just wondering how you are so calm?" He asks.
"You are being just as calm, aren't you? It's because you have accepted it. It seems some people still haven't, because they don't see what we see in the sky."
"What do you think you wish you had done?" He asked.
"I wish I believed in him, because now I see that it was true. I may die, but don't die Darek. Hide, don't leave your house."
He felt burning across his skin. The rest of his body was entering the atmosphere. Then it felt like time froze. He looked down at the ground, and realized he was about to make impact with Washington.
With all his might, he tried to redirect it, but even if he spread his legs to avoid it, he would end up crushing more states.
"It's because you have accepted it." He heard. His hearing seemed to have been increased.
Jen... I can't do anything.
He punched himself in the back to push him. It pushed him nothing at all from his perspective, but people on the ground looking up saw his body move 3 miles.
You two need to live. I have done everything I could. He punched twice, adding up to a total of 10 miles.
He had no more time.
"BRACE FOR IMPACT!" He heard their screams. Millions of people, dead in a second. But he knew, that no matter how much he pushed himself, his feet were too big. Both his feet while standing straight, covered some of Madagascar. And now, it covered all of Washington plus parts of other states.
The creature that destroyed Canada.
Was what I am now.
He stood still for a while. He crushed millions of people. Including people he knew. People who loved, and respected him.
I will KILL the people who've caused me to be this way. My so called "Father." The God of Justice.
For a God of Justice, you truly aren't laying justice down the right way.
Armies dispatched to the area, but all they could see was water, coming in a tsunami. The ground shook. Everything that had been crushed was gone, and water came in and took its place. People had to evacuate the surrounding states of Washington, or else they were in danger of being hit by the tsunami. It was mainly only people who were now on the "coast."
"Send search parties! Look for any surviving land masses!"
"This is just like the stories..." Murmuring in the crowd was extremely common. Everyone remembered stories told by their grandparents.
"A monster. A giant." The creature was so big, you could see its head, and parts of its arm and torso from the now coast.
"The legend is true. The government tried to hide this from us, but now, they can't. We won't let them control our memories!
As everyone started getting more aggressive, they started feeling a riot. The Armies who were dispatched now had to deal with aggressive civilians.
But everyone stopped immediately, no arguing, no fighting, because they felt a chill down their spine.
*BOOOOM*
The monster took a step in their general direction. And with one step, created a giant, tsunami wave.
"EVERYONE LEAVE!" A general shouted. The army-men evacuated to their cars, loaded up people without cars, and drove full throttle as far from the tsunami as they could possible. Luckily the wave when they saw it wasn't close yet, so they were able to evade.
"This might be the end folks." The general said, as they all watched the giant slowly take steps towards them.
GET A GRIP.
The monster stopped.
I stopped, but I lost control...
The giant disappeared.
"Where did it go?" News stations, blogs, youtube, live platforms, social media. Everyone in the world knew. The monster from legend was real.
Rioting from across world was the most common thing. People asking for answers.
"What was that?" "Did everyone at Washington die?" "What will you do in regards of the deceased's loved ones?" "Will you and other countries be working together to solve this issue?"
It's been 4 months since the incident, and the rioting, news, internet, nothing let up. No government had revealed any of their knowledge, and no governments had been overthrown due to it.
Darek lived in Oregon now, in one of the "Survivor Safe House's." Named SSH. They were now an organization that were largely around the old Washington. Just like Canada, not a single bit of was left. survivors only existed due to certain portions of Washington that didn't get squished, or caved in. Some areas broke down just because of the back push of the initial crash. These areas survived because they were between the monster's toes.
Around Darek's toes. Everyone in those safe houses gave reports of why they were there, how they lived, what they lost.
Darek was the singular person who refused to give a single report. Not because they asked, and he said no, but because they couldn't get him to give a response.
"They say he has brain damage due to a fall off a building. They say he landed on the monster's foot from a building and can't think straight."
"I heard all of his family lived in the areas crushed. It's not uncommon, but he's a child. Why wasn't he with his family when it happened? Don't get me wrong, it's a good thing he's alive, but it's odd he survived, ain't it?"
He heard everything, but held back his words. He was afraid anything he did could cause it to happen again. He became a shell of himself. A man pushing back every thought and emotion he had, in fear he could possibly hurt others.
"Need help up?" An unfamiliar voice asked.
A boy around Darek's age, held out his hand.
I don't know why, but I want to reach for his hand. Is it selfish I want support in my life, despite me causing so much pain?
"Nobody should be alone in times like this my friend." He said.
"Leave him alone Hes, I heard he has brain issues, you probably wont get a response." Darek reached for who he now knew as Hes's hand.
"See?" He said.
"What's your name?" He asked. Darek didn't speak.
"It's ok if you're not the vocal type, but join me and my friends in lunch. They don't bite, I swear." He said, jokingly.
After lunch ended, he attempted to go to his bed.
"Come on, have some fun. I get we are all going through bad times, but you need to do more stuff, your health matters."
"No. No it does not." First words Darek spoke to anyone in this "Survivor Safe House."
"Now why would it not? You know something I don't?" He asked, still asking playfully.
"Whether I did or not does not matter. What matters is the fact you wont believe me, and even if you did, that would be worse for me."
"That's a really roundabout way of saying you know something I don't." He said.
"Good." Darek said, and went to bed.
That night, Darek had a dream. He couldn't piece together what it was, but it felt like the dream was recounting of his memory. However.
He did not remember ever being in a black void. Must be a false memory he thought to himself.
