I search high and low all over an empty home, no one took the time to check in, buy it or even steal. Completely untouched till now...
The floor's covered in drawers, clothing and boxes, where could it be? Its pulling me in, I'm unsure why it calls to me but could it be something from my past?
After a frantic search, i finally stumble into a box with broken locks and... Blood on it? Yet i feel a strong presence from it, did i do something horrible? Surely i would remember that, haunting me. I must be overthinking it.
I slowly breath in and even slower open the box. Inside is a ring, with a cracked blue gem on a sliver engraved frame, the words are ineligible. My hands are shaking but i must see through this, i pick it up and suddenly the room feels and looks dimmer, i hear gentle wind and leaves falling.
"Wear... It..."
A faint, gentle woman speaks. I spin around in shock, yet no one is here. Its still the empty house, do i put it on? I'm... Unsure it could answer why I've been having the strange dreams and seeing figures for months. It lead me all the way here... Already past the point of no return. I line up the ring to my ring finger, close my eyes and wear it.
For a second, nothing occurs, all is quiet, i open my eyes and need to blink a few times, where did i go? An empty field with a tree near me, looks to be autumn time. The sky is sunset and its lukewarm. Then that same voice comes again.
"Your answers, on the ring. Read aloud, it will sing."
That same voice in the same tone, i spin around and see the figure from my dreams. Only to fade away. Yet it brings me comfort, like a close friend. I look at the ring, the gem is fixed, the words now readable. Well, here goes nothing...
"They will take me away, but never away from you."
I look up, back in the house, then at the ring, cracked gem and the words are now gone. It has a dim glow and leaves me feeling i have purpose. Slowly my memories come in... Her... Madeline. Oh god, i know what happened!
I continue to wear the ring, i focus up and sprint out the door, determined to repair the ring to its full potential again.
