Let me tell you a story, intertwined with many others.
It’s the story of a little girl.
Cecilia was her name. Cecilia was a young human girl of about 5 years, though tragically, she had no family.
For Cecilia was an orphan.
She was a very bright girl, always trying to see the best in her unfortunate situation. Sadly, she was a clueless, naivè girl.
She had blonde yellow hair and light skin, with messy short hair and raggedy clothes that she had found wherever she could. And though she was alone.
She never gave up.
So now that you know Cecilia, let’s start her story.

It was a perfect day out, warm, not too sunny. Everyone seemed happy in the village. Even the gods seemed to bless the creatures that lived in and around the tiny village of (INSERT NAME).
(INSERT NAME) was in between the outskirts of the kingdom it belonged to. Making it perfectly in between the countryside and the city. Easier to get supplies to when needed, but peaceful enough to be quiet without city bustle.
The town was joyful, the day was perfect. But not everything was jovial, for there was a small girl who was alone. With only a creature of the night by her side. That girl was Cecilia.
Cecilia was in a darker alley, watching other kids play together. They were kicking a ball back and fourth, playying a game of british football (American soccer). She recognized the other girls from INSERT NAME orphanage for girls.
“Hey…”
She said quietly. Emerging herself from the darkness of the alley, and walking towards the other girls. They didn’t hear her, or even notice her. So she walked closer.
“Hey” She said, now only a few steps away from them. All of the turned their heads to look at her, and some frowned.
“You can’t be here! Go away!” The oldest girl, Sadie yelled at her.
“Please let me stay, I mean no harm! None of that was-”
“NO! Get away before something bad happens, you’re cursed!”
Cecilia stopped moving towards them and sauntered backwards.
She knew she was unwelcome here, but it still stung. She was ostracized by almost everyone. All because they think she’s cursed. Some said “She is the devil’s child!” while others called her a bad omen. But no matter what name or thing people called her, she was only five. She needed them to help her. So she had to go near them or into town. She longed for the kids she was looking at to invite her to play. But the girls just glared at her.
“Go back into the darkness! It’s where you belong, freak!”
She ay not have had the village to help her, but as she walked back into the darkness, a child’s voice came from it.
The creature of the night by her side, Clara. She was a lovely vampire with darker hair and pale skin.
“Hey… C. I know those kids are insisting you’re cursed. But personally I don’t think so.”125Please respect copyright.PENANAr0DAARB6ET
Clara reassured her, which brought a smile upon Cecila’s face.
“I… I got what we came for.”
She said softly. Clara smiled at that.
“Look. Cecil, you have me you know. Our friendship may have started as a way for me to get human things from you, and for you to get clothing and other things from me… But I’ve started to care for you”
She grabbed Cecilia’s hands and said in a kind voice.
“I’ve noticed how you seem to be doing more and more dangerous things to get attention from adults… Even non-humans are talking about you trying to swallow swords, and playing with fire.”
This was the first time anyone had shown any care for Cecilia since her orphanage was burned down. People blamed it on her, and quickly they found a way to blame her for anything bad happening just because she was nearby.
But Clara didn’t care about that. As she spoke to her in a calm voice.
“How about this. I bet some Non-human would love to have you as their kid. I don’t think any will care you’re a human once they see how genuine you are.”
She said which caused Cecilia’s smile to brighten. THe thought was scary, but maybe it was worth it.
Human or not, she’d finally have a family! And though Clara was a vampyre, she was as sweet as a flower. Nothing akin to what the townsfolk said vampyre’s were like.
“Where… where will I go?”
She asked. Excited to have someone to care for her.
“Come with me.”
Clara said and put on her sun-shielding cloak. She grabbed Cecilia’s hand and ran with her out of the village, and towards the dark forest trees just outside of it.
Cecilia smiled. She finally had a friend, and soon she would have a family. Human or not, these creatures had shown more humanity than her whole village.
She realized she didn’t need those girls as her friends, or to stick around other humans just because they were familiar. She would have everything she needed with the family and friends she had gained.
For once. She felt like everything would be okay.
For once, she felt like a kid.
