Breyan scuttled in front of the me on our way to the room I've been assigned to. I've known him since my days in the 4th regiment. He was also there at the time, but due to some drama or other, he was transferred here. I was really hoping I would never see him again. He, and his overall suckup attitude rubbed me the wrong way. It didn't matter anyway. I had to work with him now, and that was all that mattered at this point. So I followed along in silence, not bothering to say anything to him. All I wanted was to rest a bit before I went over to my soldiers to introduce myself. The silence was welcome. Breyan, however, had other plans. 107Please respect copyright.PENANAwRudXC6Nwt
"Our job is, essentially, to make sure our soldiers are always prepared for battle. You must oversee their trainings, and help them improve, and fast.", he chirped in a fake bright voice. He really tried to keep a smile on his face at all times. I almost felt bad for disliking him. "We could go into battle at any time, as you know we are usually selected to be on the frontlines instead of the other regiments", he continued as we walked up the stairs. He gasped for breath as we went, clearly the talking while walking tired him out. I nodded in agreement and slowed down, faking interest at random decoration around the marble staircase. Although I found him abhorrent for his past misdeeds, had he fainted here, I'd need to take care of him. It was better to show him a little grace.107Please respect copyright.PENANAmJCfnGWf9n
3 more flights of stairs, 10 more rules to follow, and a warning to follow the commanders instructions closely later, we arrived at the door to my room. With a curt nod and a small smile, he took his leave, and I was finally free of his presence.
