I am back.
He was back in the endless void, but something felt different. It felt like the void, but he wasn't falling anymore. He was just completely still. It took him 2 minutes before he realized there was a floor, but he just couldn't stand. He used his two hands to push himself along the floor he was floating above, and ventured throughout the void for 2 months. He wandered and wandered, and never found anything of meaning until one day.
A door?
A pink door appeared in front of him. He, with no hesitation, grabbed the doorknob and swung it open. The moment he swung it open his body fell, started falling again. He was no longer still, now in motion. It stayed like that for 10 days, until as he fell, he saw a white door.
What is with these damn doors.
He swung the door open and fell inside.
"Welcome kid!" A voice boomed 10 feet above him. Darek looked up, and saw a 12 foot man towering over him.
"Welcome to heaven. You don't look right. Where is your outfit?" He said, scanning him up and down.
"What outfit?" Darek replied.
"When you die, all of your clothes are changed into traditional robes. Is that slacker not doing his job?"
"I guess not" Darek replied.
The surroundings were something else. He was standing on top of the brightest green grass he had ever seen. he looked closer to see the grass was not planted on dirt, but clouds.
"Follow me, we have to get you into the proper clothing."
"There you go, there are your traditional robes. You are expected to wear these at all times, understand?"
"Alright" Darek responded.
"You can head on your own now. I just had to stop you and get you into the right garments. See you!"
"Bye sir!"
He finally started to pay more attention to his surroundings. He was in a town. The roads were made of pavement, and the buildings were made of steel and brick. He felt it was off. Why would the place people rest after death look like a human built civilization?
"I thought the same thing you thought too when I saw it." A man peered over Darek's shoulder.
"How did you know that was-"
"Because I can see it in your eyes. I can explain it for you if you would like."
"Please."
"The reason it looks like this, is because the cities are built to keep up with how the modern world is staged. The idea of the gods is to bring the deceased to a setting they recognize, but a better version without the corruption of human society. So for example, there is no money, you can walk into a store, grab food, and walk out. Everything regenerates here."
"Do you mind if I ask your name?" Darek asks.
"My name is Cane. I was born in 1834, and died in 1876, and I have been here ever since."
"Nice to meet you Cane." Darek reaches out for a handshake.
"I got a question, are you... racist?" Darek asks, cautiously.
"Oh dear god no, for two reasons: even when I was alive, I refused to stand for racism, I despised its existence. However, even if I was racist when I was alive, I would have arrived here and been erased of any hatred in my body."
"Ah I see."
They walked through the city, with Cane giving Darek a sort of tour guide of the city. "That is the tech store..." and "That is the retro games store..."
"It's been a while, is there still more to this town?" Darek asks.
"Sorry if I have been boring you, this town is giant to be fair. It has to fit every single human to have ever lived, so if I tried to show you everything, we would die a second time! Ha! " Cane starts to laugh and it slowly turns into a cough.
"Well I got to go, do you know anywhere I could get prayers answered? Or is there a way to make a direct audience with god?" Darek asks.
"Not really, the gods refuse to meet with the people, however they might answer just a prayer, even from where you are now. Just don't say it out loud, or they wont answer."
Darek gets on his knees and holds up his hands and closes them tightly and thinks to himself I am a descendant of the god of monsters and I am a descendant of the god of justice. If you want to meet with me and talk, answer my prayer.
"I am done with my prayer-"
Before Darek can finish his sentence, he feels his body start to fall apart into dust.
"Looks like your prayer was answered, whatever it is."
He fully turned into dust then abruptly woke up.
"Where am I?"
He looks around to see two big thrones, with only one of them full.
"Who are you-"
"Hello there. My name is the god of obedience. I heard your prayer, and I am wildly surprised you have the confidence to come here after escaping death."
"What, are you gonna try and kill me? I am already in heaven aren't I?"
"No, you aren't. You have been lied to my the people below, and it seems to have convinced you. Where you were was the area in between heaven and hell. That is the reason it is built how it is, because humans built those, not the gods."
"Then why were people telling me the gods built them? Are they just ignorant to other humans?" Darek asks.
"In a way. We have other humans from heaven who don't want to live in luxury anymore, so they willingly go down to the middle layer and build the towns in place of the gods, and humans are none the wiser, and of course we specifically tell them to not tell the humans they are in the space between the good and the bad."
"That's kinda fucked up dont you think?" Darek says.
"You are mighty confident, talking to a god in such a way. Maybe I should knock you down a peg." As he says that, Darek's body falls to the ground, and he can no longer feel his legs.
"Remember that I can make you fall to the ground eat dirt the next time you attempt to talk to a god in a way that is meant to insult or ridicule."
"We made you." He says.
"And in history, the people who make others commonly end up being killed or destroyed by what they made." Darek says.
"Is that a threat to a god?"
"No, it is a promise."
In that moment, Darek feels something boiling up inside him.
"Wait, no stop, get him out of this room now!" The god yells.
"I'm guessing that other throne over there is for the God of Justice."
"Get him out of here now!"
"I wanted to meet the man that ruined my entire life."
*FWOOOOOOOSH*
A green light slowly formed around his body, which seemingly stopped his growth, but he had already grown large enough to break out of the roof of the building.
A large beam of light came from above Darek.
"DEAL WITH YOUR DAMN KID!" A voice boomed from above.
"THIS SHIT WONT MAKE ME LOOK BAD AGAIN."
He recognized that voice.
"Nice to meet you again, Mr. God of Natural Order."
"And I'm much more powerful than a half blood god like yourself." Natural Order says."
"What's your name again?" Darek looks up, with a grin.
