My hands lay upon the television screen, watching Prim's expression. I cannot speak; I have become a mental avox. My mother, who is sitting in the kitchen, is still crying from the reaping. Why hadn't I taken her place? And there Prim is, talking to Caesar, an interviewer for the Hunger Games, dressed in a beautiful blue lace dress. I had sent my sister to her death.
"What is it like to be a celebrity at twelve?" He asks her.
She plays with her fingers, "It's marvelous, having so many people in support, to help you remember your family far away." I gasp, but to my surprise, the Capitol finds Prim's comment acceptable.
Caesar tenses but asks, "Who would you like to say hello to, Prim?" He smiles weakly.
Prim turns to the camera and hesitates, "Hello, mom. Hello, Katniss. Hello district 12." she smiles but I can easily see the frightened personality pouring out from deep inside her.
"You look very beautiful tonight, Prim. Such a lovely shade of blue" Caesar compliments. The crowd claps in unison, some even whistling to my sister.
"Cinna designed my outfit." She stands up to let everyone see her.
The dress is slightly short, with thin layers of colors of beautiful baby blues. Her nails are painted the same color, but just like the dress, you can see translucent layers of different shades. Prim does a small twirl gracefully, although I thought she would fall on her large heels. It almost even looks like she had lived in the Capitol for years. She sits back down with a smile,
"Well, thank you, Prim, but that is all the time we have, so let's give one more round of applause for Primrose Everdeen!"
The crowd goes wild by the mentioning of her name.
