“By God…” I muttered, taking a seat at my desk, the Oval Office’s walls surrounding me. I had just spoken to the NASA Head of Research Operations, and things were not looking good, no not at all. The sun had vanished like Republican-Democratic unity, congress was in concern (soon to be chaos) and some random guy had just broken into my house (according to a text).

I sat at my desk, holding my head in my hands, concerned for my own well being. I then sat up. I stared at my desk, looking at the now increasing piles of paperwork, and contemplating why on earth I ran for the presidency. The Democrats, though my party, were not being very Democratic, to be honest, and that in itself was another headache to deal with. I simply stared into oblivion at a bill I had yet to sign into law, then noticed my phone, which read ‘13 missed calls’.

“Jesus…” I muttered, “Was it on silent for that long?” I picked it up and listened to the first. Something about paying for a child I never had. The second. I should come take a loan? What? Anyway, the third was one of those car’s extended warranty ones, so I clicked the last one, which revealed itself to be a standout from the others.

It started with audio of someone flipping through some papers, then clicking a pen, presumably writing a check mark thereafter. I was, quite fairly, very much concerned about this person’s access to my phone number, but I listened nonetheless.

“Madame President,” They said, ”It has come to common knowledge that the sun has disappeared. Due to the effects, it is a must for action to be taken.” As if I didn't already know that. “For the sake of the public’s survival, I urge you to fund the Office of Public Infrastructure, and NASA substantially, they will be the key to getting through this. I take it that you will do this, for America is depending on you. Goodnight Madame President.”

The voicemail ended, and I shrugged thereafter. I wasn't doing anything much, so there was no problem in me doing this. It seemed reasonable, so might as well.
