John Mayers, the protagonist of our story, was a quiet, quiet but sociable man who made his living as a diver. In the late 1920s, he lived in a small fishing village on the north coast of England. John was a man who loved his work; diving was not just a profession for him, it was a passion. Exploring the mysterious world of the deep gave him both fear and excitement. His wife Mariam and his two sons Jacob and Frank were the joy of his life. He enjoyed telling sea stories to his children, especially Jacob, who listened with excitement to his father's adventures under the sea. Jacob's astonished look at his father excited John as well. The “Lighthouse Pub” in the town's harbor was a place where John and other divers and sailors often gathered to sip their drinks and tell stories. Here they would share the strange objects they had dug up from under the sea and their stories, which sometimes sounded made up, and spend hours laughing, and in a way this pub was their gathering point. One evening, when John returned home, Mariam was waiting for him in the kitchen. Mariam was quietly preparing tea in the kitchen after the children were asleep. “John,” she said in a slightly worried tone, ”a strange man came to town today. I saw him talking to one of the fishermen in the harbor, and then he kept looking at me... his eyes... they were... creepy.” John shrugged. “There are always strange people in town, Mariam. Maybe it's a merchant, or maybe he's lost.” But Mariam's discomfort gnawed at John. The next day John didn't have much to do, he and a crew were going out on a routine cruise, and when night came, they found themselves in the bar again, as usual. That night the bar was ringing with the cheerful voices of divers. John and a few of his friends were discussing a new dive plan. Just then a man in a black cloak entered the bar, his face covered in gyaras. With his arrival, the place suddenly went silent. The man's presence carried an unknown weight, as if the air in the room had condensed. The man walked to the corner of the bar and sat down at John's table. No one knew how he had found John or why he had come directly to him. The man placed an old leather bag on the table and pulled out a faded map. The map pointed to a spot a few miles out of town, deep in the sea. “Mr. Mayers,” he said, his voice dark and resonant. “I've been watching you for a long time. I'm aware of your talent for deep diving. Your name is spreading fast. I have a big business proposition for you.” John frowned and looked awkward. “What kind of business?” A slight smile appeared on the man's face. “I know the location of a legendary wreck, a ship, an exploration vessel sunk centuries ago. But this is no ordinary wreck. Inside it lies a power unknown throughout human history. A power that promises both priceless wealth and wisdom you can't even imagine.” John looked at the map. The place marked was in an area known to the town's fishermen as the “Silent Depths”. It was generally avoided. Some old sailors said it was cursed, that something strange was hiding under the sea. “This seems a bit... too dangerous,” John said hesitantly. The man reached into his bag and pulled out gold coins without having to look inside. The gold coins he placed on the table represented more than John had ever earned in his entire life. “This is just the beginning. When you come back, you will get many times more than this.” John thought for a moment. The thought of providing a better life for his family was tempting. Hesitantly, he accepted the offer. But his decision would only bring him and his loved ones grief. In the following days, John and his team began preparations for the dive. But things were awkward from the start. As they were preparing their diving equipment, they were approached by an old fisherman working in the harbor. His eyes widened in fear. “Don't go there!” he shouted as he held John's arms tightly, ”The Silent Deep is a burial place. There are things that people should not touch. That place... takes life.” John and the others thought the old man was crazy and did not take what he said seriously. But the uncertainty was growing inside John. What was even stranger was that several nights in a row in the town strange lights appeared in the sky. Some of the houses by the sea had strange symbols on the walls that looked like they were made of seaweed. Mariam was startled when she noticed these symbols and showed them to John. But John calmed her down, saying it was just a coincidence. When the day of the dive arrived, the air was strangely heavy and still, and there was a small drizzle of rain. Although there was no wind, waves seemed to be forming on the sea surface. John set off with his team to the marked spot. As they set off, Mariam hugged her husband tightly. “Please be careful,” she said. “Please be careful,” she said, but deep inside she felt she would never see him again. But she still hoped.John and his team set off in an old ship. There was nothing strange about the voyage. The rain picked up a little.John felt a little uneasy, but no matter how strange the place was, he would do what he always did.He motivated himself and finally they reached the dive site.John strapped on his equipment and was ready. As John plunged into the water, the light on the sea surface gradually faded and a pitch blackness surrounded him. The deeper he went, the more suffocating the atmosphere became. When the wreckage finally came into view, John's eyes widened in horror. The wreckage did not look like a normal shipwreck. The wood was rotten and covered with algae, but around the ship were circular symbols that looked as if they had been drawn with some kind of organic matter. The symbols emitted an energy that resonated in the mind. When John entered the ship, it was as if he had entered another dimension. The ship looked old on the outside but strangely preserved on the inside. In the center of a room was a huge altar made of black stones. On the altar, there were texts and bas-reliefs written in an ancient language.Meanwhile, John began to feel something strange around him. It was as if he was not in the water; he could not move or breathe. A hoarse whisper echoed in his mind. “We are the owners of this place, we are the owners of the deep... and you have disturbed us.” A strange object on the altar suddenly moved. A shiny black orb with strange symbols and gray smoke moved inside it, floating towards John as if it had a will of its own. As John held the orb in his hand, his mind was filled with thousands of images: huge undersea cities, missing sailors, strange beings, irituals and the sharp eyes of a dark presence. John felt tremendous pressure on his skull, his vision was blurring, he was having difficulty breathing, the images were so disturbing that John was going mad, at the same time the voices in his head increased to the point that he could no longer make out what they were saying, only the disturbing voices were running around in John's head like a madman. John managed to open his eyes clearly for a while, but he saw that he was surrounded by the spirits of the beings he had seen in the orb, they had surrounded John and were circling around him rapidly, at the same time there was no shortage of voices and images, John finally tried to throw the orb away, but his strength was gone. John made it to the surface, but his crew found him unconscious. When he was brought aboard, it was as if his body had emptied. His mind was completely silent, his eyes fixed on one point, dull as if there was no soul inside him anymore. They immediately wrapped him up and took him to a warm place. The next day, when they returned to port, John did not speak again. Days later Mariam found him lifeless in bed. Her eyes were still wide with the horror she had seen that night, her face frozen with fear. The divers in town could guess what John had seen on his last dive, but no one dared tell Mariam or her children the truth. After John's death, the “Silent Depths” became an eternal taboo for the townspeople, who would turn away from the sea in fear whenever a strange whisper came from the depths. For the deep was a tomb that never revealed its secrets. And John Mayers shared the fate of those who learned those secrets.23Please respect copyright.PENANAJQP4my78n5
