As she walks out of her office, she notices a little girl standing outside her door.
JETSTREAM: "Well, hi there, little lady. I'm known as Jetstream, but you can call me Barbara. What's your name, honey?"
JANE: "Jane....."
JETSTREAM: "Well, Jane, do you live around here anywhere? Are you lost? Where are your parents?"
JANE: "Well....my mommy died from some kind of illness. That's why I came here."
JETSTREAM: "I'm sorry. What about your father?"
JANE: ".........He went away when I was born."
JETSTREAM: "You poor thing. Well....... I'll have to figure something out. I'm certainly not gonna leave you alone."
JANE: "What are you going to do with me, Miss Barbara?"
JETSTREAM: "Hmmmmmm. I know. How about this. You can stay close to me in the meantime. Besides, Millennium City's not a overly dangerous town. You'll be safe with me, okay?"
JANE: "Okay."
JETSTREAM: "Now, how about we get something to eat? You must be starving after that long ride here."

JANE: "Thank you, Miss Barbara."
JETSTREAM: "No. Thank you, and sleep tight. I'll be right over there."

SCENE 6
JETSTREAM: "As you can see, Jane, this town is a pretty standard one. You got the bank, the restaurants, the boarding house, the general store and so on. How do you like it here?"
JANE: "It's very nice, Miss Barbara. I kinda wish I could live here with you, but I don't think I can."
JETSTREAM: "What makes you say that, Jane?"
JANE: "I'm sorry I haven't told you, Miss Barbara. My Aunt Erika was going to come visit me and mommy. Then before she got there, my mommy died. She probably knows I'm here."
JETSTREAM: "I understand."
As they were walking, Jane told Jetstream something that left her wondering.
JANE: "You know, Miss Barbara, you're a very nice lady. You remind me of my mother."
JETSTREAM: "Your mother?"
JANE: "Yeah. Her name was Jean. She was pretty like you, and she was really nice, too. I loved being with her."
JETSTREAM: "She sounds like a special lady."
JANE: "Oh, she is."
Jetstream and Jane then see a stagecoach make its way in. A woman got off, looking around.
JANE: "Miss Barbara. That lady looks like-"
ERIKA:"Jane! Is that you? Who is this?"
JANE: "Aunt Erika! Her name is Miss Barbara. She took care of me the entire time I was here."
ERIKA: "Is that so? Well, I'm indebted to you, Miss Barbara. Thank you for looking out for my niece. I heard about what happened to her, so I came to the nearby town. That's how I got here."
JETSTREAM: "Jane's a sweetheart. I enjoyed spending time with her. We had lots of fun, right, Jane?"
JANE: "Yes, ma'am."
ERIKA: "I'm afraid we must go, Jane. Thank you again, Miss Barbara."
JETSTREAM: "Well, bye-bye, Jane. I'll be sure to come see you sometime, if it's okay with Aunt Erika."
ERIKA: "We'd be glad to have you, won't we, Jane?"
JANE: "Yes ma'am. Bye, Miss Barbara."
JETSTREAM: "Goodbye, Jane."

JETSTREAM (watching Jane leave): "You know, I met a girl today. A very nice girl. As I spent time with her, I learned something valuable. I got an idea of what being a mother would be like. The way I figure it is that children can sometimes be better teachers than most adults."
