In the distant past, a boy and a girl named Hansel and Gretel were brought up in the woods by their parents, who were isolated from the rest of society.
They have a dreary existence outside of the city. Even though they go without food for several days, the children never complain.
A ravenous appetite compels them to hunt down and devour anything they can lay their eyes on, including insects and small animals.
You might think their parents are cruel for allowing them to live this way, but they believe it is in their children’s best interests, as it keeps them away from the rich people who hold a holier than thou attitude against them.
However, the time has come for him to finally decide to coerce his children out of their home, even though his wife opposes the idea,
“They were going to die, I’d rather have them perish in the middle of nowhere than have them perish here where we’d be held responsible,” he said.
The wife shook her head in disbelief.
As soon as night fell, he knew he had to take action. In an abrupt move, he dragged both of his kids out of the house and yelled,
“If you want to last a day tomorrow, you have to hunt as many as you could,”
They’ve given up fighting and did what their father tell them. Hansel, however, was suspicious; he peered at their rear end and thought about it. But he quickly recovered and now follows his father everywhere. In an unexpected turn of events, Gretel threw her arm around her brother’s waist and began sobbing.
Hansel’s lips curved into a beaming smile as he reassured his sister that everything would be okay.
In that split second, before they could even look over at their father’s shadow, he had vanished completely, like a bubble. Once they realized there was nothing but blackness, terror-filled their eyes.
He calmed himself and led his sister to a tree trunk, where he wiped her tears while glancing around the wilderness. He glimmer of hope could be found out there.
“What are we going to do now, Hansel? Are we somehow lost? Did we lose track? Tell me!” he was at a loss for words, clearly panicking.
“Poor you,” someone murmured.
The very thought of that sent shivers down Hansel's spine. He couldn't bear to turn his head to see where the noise was coming from, so he just ran for it and left.
After a while, he realized he had lost track of his sister. He looked around frantically, about to pass out from fear, when someone caught him in their arm; he didn’t see a glimpse of their face, and then he lost consciousness.
A delicious aroma awoke him, and when I looked up from where he was lying, he was taken aback by the sight of a beautiful woman.
“I’m glad that you’re awake. Come and join us.” As she led him to a massive dining table not far from where he was lying, one of those chairs was occupied by his sister.
He immediately ran into her and hugged her tight. “I was so sick and worried about you.” As he pulled away from her embrace, he noticed her broad grin.
“Oh, she’s thrilled as well. Good thing I found her amid the woods!” The lady exclaimed. They both sat in their chairs and started devouring the food In front of them.
At the corner of his vision, he noticed the woman's smile as she watched him demolish the meal in front of him with great enthusiasm.
“You must be extremely hungry, little man. Help yourself.” She said with a smile plastered on her face.
“W-We are. We haven't eaten for days. Thank you for this wonderful meal, ma'am. My sister and I owe you.” he retorted.
There was silence after that, and all Hansel got was a wicked look from the woman, “So how does Gretel's flesh tastes like?”
_
