It’s Friday night and I’m sitting in front of my laptop staring at the blank screen watching the cursor blink. And before you ask “What adult male would stay home instead of going out with his friends on a weekend”. I chose to stay in tonight, for the peace and quiet. Plus I wanted to let my imagination run wild on my computer and use all of these writing tools I purchased and installed. Theres just one problem with that. Now before I continue let me introduce myself, my name is Jay Rodriguez. I’m 20 years old, 6ft tall, weigh 225 pounds and have short dark brown hair. Now back to my dilemma, I’m sitting in front of this blank screen with ideas running wild in my mind the problem is that I can never organize my ideas into one story. I’ll start one story and then have an idea for another and this process will repeat it self. Now of course I’m thought of ways to help myself out. I had a notebook that I filled with my ideas, and just as I was about to fill the last page. While sitting on my fire escape, I spilled an entire cup of ice water on top of the note book. I tried my hardest to dry the pages, but my efforts were for not. All of my ideas just becoming smudges on crinkled pages, gone were some of my most creative ideas. I tried my hardest to remember my past ideas again but they were lost in my memories. Recently I have started using sticky notes to capture my ideas, then two days ago I was in the local park trying to get inspired. When I came out of my trance a split second later all i could see was my sticky notes flying away from my grasps and flying in all different directions. I didn’t even try to go after them they were gone in a flash. And that is what led me to this moment and this blank screen and blinking cursor that is somewhat taunting me. 632Please respect copyright.PENANAWD7O79I5eh
Now I consider myself a creative individual with a vivid imagination and I love to read to open my imagination and find different perspectives. I like all types of genres including fantasy and horror. My love for the gory ness and sinister antics of horror is only topped by the limitless potential of fiction. I love the fiction genre because of how vivid and limitless it can be. I always like to say that “Fiction is the gateway to the imagination”. Most of my stories are based in this genre because it helps me to bring my imagination to life. I’ve also been able to include aspects of my life into my stories. All my failed attempts at love, my adventures with my friends. My daily adventures in New York City, the melting pot of the world. My favorite things to write about are friendships and heart breaks. I can actually be myself through my writings. I can give my characters the happy endings that some cannot find in life or I could easily have them drown in pits of sorrow that some more than others know all to well. It’s up to me and my imagination and whatever I can come up with.632Please respect copyright.PENANAS7XSw4SZTf
Back to present time, as I’m walking to the kitchen going to my fridge to find my plate of brownies I made a few days ago. Someone( probably my pops) has taken a bite of one of my brownies. So now I’m down to four and a half brownies, now where’s the milk so I can make the peanut butter and chocolate chip brownies disappear. Wait I just remembered that somewhere on my laptop, there should be an old detective story I worked on a few months ago. I take my plate and cup of milk back to the computer. Better yet let me put these to the side not taking any chances and spilling milk on my computer, that would be disastrous on so many levels. After a minute or two I locate the file and open it up to find a few sentences and immediately I read it over and delete everything. Except the name “Dirty” Dan Stevens, which is the name of the detective. That is also one of my problems I second guess my self so much my ideas don’t t have the chance to become stories. I’m trying my hardest to not doubt myself or my imagination, who knows how good ideas I’ve talked myself out of. And as I now look at this screen my ideas are flowing out of my mind. So I will leave you with this. “Fiction is laced with reality” what seems like a fictions issue to some is reality to others!
