Ji-hae dragged her sister by the end of her hoodie after saying goodbye, and Sung-min followed. Just as he had turned the corner towards the elevators, Jeon-woo hurriedly stuffed his laptop into his bag. But after running a few steps, he stopped himself and walked in a normal pace.
Or, at least tried to walk in a normal pace.
...
Sung-min had a long beige coat on and a bright crimson scarf that went up to the bottom of his nose. He pushed the scarf up a little bit to cover his whole nose as he somewhat purposely went slowly towards the multiple glass doors and exits. He carefully avoided the numerous people in the lobby trying to get home as fast as possible.
He pushed open the ridiculously heavy door and was greeted by a rush of cold wind. His eyelashes caught the snow, making his vision blurry and eyes going back and forth between watery and dry. So Sung-min stood, the only person to be standing during the rush to be exact, and gently rubbed his eyes. But just before he took a step down the stairs, a pair of long arms hugged him from the back.
"Holy sh-- Jeon-woo-아*! We almost fell, be a little more careful."
"But, I would've saved you anyways, so it's fine."
It was weird, and by weird it was surprising that even after being married for about two years now, his heart was still about to burst from that one sentence. Sung-min smiled but quickly looked around and flicked Jeon-woo's forehead.
"No touching until we get home. Especially when we're in a ten meter radius from work. And letting that back hug happen was an apology for hitting your head before."
Jeon-woo whined and rubbed his forehead, but he quickly laughed and said it's okay.
He let Sung-min walk a little bit in the front and quickly followed him, like a puppy following its mother's tail. It was finally the weekend, the short period of time where they didn't have to wait until they were away from others.
"I can't fucking believe you, Ji-soo."
"... calm down 언니*, I just skipped one day."
Ji-hae swept her hand through her long rose-gold hair and scoffed.
"I want you to explain why--"
"No thank you."
Sigh... "you skipped school, before I send you back home to Mom."
"..."
Ji-soo stayed silent for a few seconds. Anywhere, but home. Without looking up towards her seething sister, she scratched the back of her head.
She couldn't go back to school. She couldn't see her face again, as it would only cause trouble. But Ji-soo knew deep inside that it was a mistake skipping school that day. And deep inside, she still missed --
"I... just have a few things to think about. But when I do have things straightened out, I'll tell you everything, I swear, 언니*."
Ji-hae frowned, her anger suddenly washed over with concern.
"Are the 'things' illegal or harmful...? It's not, right?"
Ji-soo looked at Ji-hae with her light brown eyes and smiled. She shook her head.
"Of course not, don't worry. Just give me two weeks and I'll spill everything to you, I promise."
Ji-hae sighed and walked over to her younger sister and ruffled her hair. The last time she remembered, Ji-soo was pulling out all of the tissues from each tissue box with her tiny hands, laughing at all the dust and the mess she has made, completely aware of the consequences waiting for the her, but still continued her play.
"Alright, just, ugh, just don't get hurt. You idiot."
Just don't hurt.
Ji-soo smiled and laughed. But after Ji-hae closed the bathroom door, she sunk into the couch and began to feel tears well up. In her situation, it was surely impossible to not get hurt.
Not physically, of course. She could take on literally anyone, but emotional injuries? She would double down the moment it makes a scratch on her.
But it was inevitable. Ji-soo shook the tears away because she knew the pain, the hurt she's going to feel?
It would hurt like a bitch.

Ga-young opened the door with the grocery bags. She quickly locked the door behind her and dropped the heavy groceries onto the ground near the fridge.
She took a breath and then turned on the lights.
It's too quiet.
After washing her hands and throwing her bra across the room, she grabbed two beer cans and jumped on the couch. She peered at the clock and quickly turned on the TV, since it was time for her favorite show to start broadcasting.
But instead of usually being immersed in whoever is fighting whom, she stared right into the hole of the can and sunk down deeper into the couch.
She heaved a heavy sigh and let the hand with the remote in it drop beside her.
"Really... why doesn't home feel like home....?"
