My teacher went to Japan with his son. He went to the toy session of a shop, and bought a set of toy train for his son.
When he reached the cashier, the cashier asked him, “What is your mission of paying?”
He was confused. Mission of paying?
“What is your mission of paying, sir?” The cashier asked again.
That toy train was very popular and famous. Children need to build the train by themselves, and steam can come out of the train.
My teacher thought, “Maybe I want my son to build a toy train when he is small, and build a real train when he is tall.”
“By cash or by credit card?” The cashier asked.
He realized that the cashier was asking his method of paying, not his mission of paying.
My teacher used this story to encourage us to speak more English without worrying about making mistakes.
In my school, each teacher has to stand in front of the whole school to do a sharing once a year. Most of the sharing was very boring, telling us stories which we have heard of many times before. We will never remember what they shared. But today he shared something different, and I think I will remember his words.
