I've lived in the house I currently live in, for 17 years. That's saying I've lived there my entire life. Ever since I was born, it's the one place I've always called home.
Now, If you've lived in the same house, for 17 years, you would probably be expected to know your house like the back of your hand. Well, I did know my house like the back of my hand. My house was huge, somebody new, could easily get lost. But having lived there long enough taught me two things; How to find my way around, and never, ever enter the forbidden room. Grandma said it was Forbidden for a reason.673Please respect copyright.PENANA8boNQGbTby
That brings us to the day my Grandma died. Her last words to me were in a letter. The envelope also had a key inside it, secured in a silk napkin. Silk those days, much like these days, was for the elite rich. How she managed to get one, was beyond me.
In Grandma's letter, she told me, that I now, had permission to enter the Forbidden room. being the ever-adventurous girl I was at the age of 17, I was beyond excited. Grandma told me, to bring 3 of my closest friends, as what we would find, would put our friendship to test. I rolled my eyes at that. I regret rolling my eyes, now.
So, the next day, I brought my friends over, who were equally excited. My friends, Owen and Oswin, had brought a couple of drinks, while Madison, and me, Madeline, had decided to prepare some snacks. After packing a small backpack for each of us, we set out towards the Forbidden room, which was on the other side of our mansion.
As we neared it, I gently pulled out the silk package and unwrapped the key. It was one of the most beautiful keys I'd ever laid my eyes on. Intricate carving filled every inch of the copper key.
I put the key in the keyhole, and ever so gently turned it, unlocking the door. Owen pushed the door, that opened with a loud creak. Spooky.
We all entered, one by one. Me, Oswin, Owen, and Madison. My eyes skimmed over the room, that looked like it was an old, dusty attic, in disappointment. It was filled with odd things. Who would call that Forbidden, huh?
But then, Madison spotted something brilliant. Well, brilliant was the word I'd used then. It was a small silver chest, with intricate designs. I noticed that it had a lot of the same designs the copper key had. So I tried opening the chest, and voila!673Please respect copyright.PENANA5q0CmpTe1J
Inside the chest, there was another box, this time smaller, like a suitcase. Oswin and Madison gently lifted the box out, and placed it in front of us. We all sat around it, and they urged me to open it. I gently turned the case to face me, and read the word on the suitcase. It said, 'JUMANJI'
I gently unclasped the suitcase, and opened it... to reveal a boardgame!
I still can't decide if agreeing to play it, was the worst, or the best, mistake I've ever made.
