Chapter 1

Today I awoken with a smile on my face. Why? Because today was about me -not her. Today was my birthday and if my parents got what I hinted, then maybe there will be a car in the back for me right now.

I throw the overly bright yellow covers off my twin sided bed and immediately grabbed my glasses off my drawer, placing them on. I then put on my fluffy rabbit flip-flops, as my smile grew bigger, as I thought about the big birthday breakfast waiting for me.

I nearly rushed out my room, running down the hallway and running faster down the stairs to get to the kitchen. As I got closer, I noticed I didn't smell any food and I didn't hear the chatter of conversation from my mother, father, or anything from my older sister Tara.

Maybe I'm just being paranoid. I mean of course my parents and older sister couldn't have forgotten today was my birthday...right? I thought.
672Please respect copyright.PENANApjbqtJJu4t
As I entered the kitchen, a frown made its way to my face, there was nobody inside the kitchen, there was no life at all. I just stared for a few minutes.
672Please respect copyright.PENANAwVkb4aJkSh
Maybe there in the living room! I claimed.

I ran to the living room to see nobody in the room. My eyes water as I stared at the clear white walls, I even looked at the black fifty inch tv, moving my eyes to the black and white poke-a-dot couch, to the chocolate brown coffee table, I moved my glaze to the pale blue marble floors with some hope, but I knew nothing was there.
672Please respect copyright.PENANAHvGGOGovXg
No! There here in this house somewhere waiting to surprise me!
672Please respect copyright.PENANAnP9Czsh4mb
I ran through the house, but I saw nobody, nothing. The house was empty. I was alone on my birthday. Nobody cared. I had been forgotten again.

I laughed like a women on crack, trying to keep the tears at bay.

If I had been Tara as soon as I woke up there would have been a whole party for me. If I had been Tara, I would have had anything I wanted. If I had been Tara I would have gotten a car, even before my birthday and still gotten birthday money. But I wasn't Tara.
672Please respect copyright.PENANAUeYZ6Pro2d
After allshe was their favorite.
672Please respect copyright.PENANA48FiMPpDSR
As soon as that thought came to my head, I burst into tears.
672Please respect copyright.PENANAZdYTMiiOzo
Why couldn't I be remembered? Why couldn't I be as popular as Tara? Why did I get to be the outcast? Why couldn't I be just as important as Tara? I was even named Kara due to my sister. Kara was the name Tara picked out of a list of girl names my mom had created, when she was only two.
672Please respect copyright.PENANADapy7mFqir
I knew all the answers to my questions.
672Please respect copyright.PENANAF0w2h0X71d
I just wasn't as important as Tara. And I'll never be.

I walked dejected over towards the couch and lay down, taking my glasses off. I throw them at the wall hearing in satisfaction as they cracked. I knew I would regret that later because I was as blind as a bat without them, but at this moment destroying something, anything made me somewhat happy, but that happiness didn't last.

Tara keep coming back into my mind. How people favorite her over me! Of how when she dismissed me on my first day of high school, I suddenly become the outcast. No one wanted to be near me or talk to me, the only people who would honestly said anything to me were the teachers and they were paid to do it!

I felt like a disease. I felt unwanted. I didn't feel like anyone wanted to be near me at home or at school and I hated it.
672Please respect copyright.PENANAwjbJLVYYV6
My mom and dad only talked to me when they didn't want me to embarrass them in front of their friends or when we were out in public. Other then that, they didn't give me the time of day.

Sure every week they gave me twenty buckets and gave Tara fifty since we both stared high school, but they actually spoke to Tara. They actually hang out with her and did things with her, me on the other hand. They only hang out with me when they had too.

I wasn't being abused and sure I had a roof over my head, a laptop, clothes which weren't anywhere near as costly as Tara, sure I had something to put on my feet and something to eat, but what I craved I didn't have. I wanted my family to love me, I wanted friends to hang out with and maybe a boyfriend, I didn't have not a single one of those three things.

The tears were falling heavy from my eyes clouding what little sight I could see and sobs racked my body, as I cried like a little baby.
672Please respect copyright.PENANAIFZCh7Z3Yv
Maybe they haven't forgotten you. That tiny voice inside my head said.
672Please respect copyright.PENANADpST03F7ne
I knew however that I had indeed been forgotten because I had said the same thing for so many years and had been disappointed each and every time!

I cried myself to sleep and was finally happy when darkness took over.
672Please respect copyright.PENANAvQftCIjphc
I awoken sometime later to hear laughter. I got up almost tripping as I did. I could barely see and the darkness in the room wasn't helping.

I placed my hands in the air feeling around for anything I could use to help myself and as I felt for the wall, I heard a cracking noise and realized the thing I had to have stepped on had to be my glasses. Reaching downwards I felt for them for a few times before I found them. I grabbed them not caring that some of the glass cut into my hand. I put them on, thankful they were cracked and broken a little bit instead of being fully broken. I didn't even care about some pieces of the glass being missing, I was happy I could see.

I walked to the room where I heard the laughter and almost walked in until I heard someone said. "Why didn't you guys bring Kara with you to the basketball game? I mean she is your daughter instead of me!"
672Please respect copyright.PENANAVQJ6xBZGK7
"Kara who?" My older sister joked.
672Please respect copyright.PENANAIzirKpS4Bx
"Why couldn't she be more like Tara?" My father question.
672Please respect copyright.PENANAxgDJFT9x6z
"Because Tara is beautiful, unlike Kara." My mother said amused.
672Please respect copyright.PENANAzjn4st34Ox
I heard three sounds of laughter before the other person nervously began laughing.
672Please respect copyright.PENANA0UkNUqSg40
"Anyway don't worry May, I'm sure Kara didn't mind you came instead of her. To us your like family!" Tara added on happily.

I didn't even realized tears were streaming down my face, until I saw them cloud up my glasses.
672Please respect copyright.PENANAYwwhrM33si
I knew it! I freaking knew it! I knew I wasn't wanted! I thought.
672Please respect copyright.PENANAmBIfE4JR8C
"I do mind." I said as I stepped into the kitchen.
672Please respect copyright.PENANA30mKofIqbw
Four eyes snapped around to look at me.
672Please respect copyright.PENANAIqjQLzE1YD
"Y-You forget!" I stated.
672Please respect copyright.PENANAanbode6bFC
My father midnight black eyes looked into my own coffee brown eyes. "What did we forget?" He demanded.
672Please respect copyright.PENANAecrGsk3zkI
"My birthday." I whispered.
672Please respect copyright.PENANA12EghrKhXz
"MY BIRTHDAY!" I screamed.
672Please respect copyright.PENANARpFfLsyMVU
My mom snapped. "Don't raise your voice at your father!"
672Please respect copyright.PENANAB1Y1Mb7wEs
"Yeah, mom's right Kara, that's totally rude!" Tara had the nerve to butt in.
672Please respect copyright.PENANAt2Jas9nkrk
I looked at her and I glared so hard. I took in her appearance. Her golden brown hair fell in perfect waves around her chocolate round face, her mocha eyes stared at me with hate, that I never saw before. Until now. A evil smile curving at her medium-sized lips. She wore a pair of red jeans with a killer black top, completed with four inch red heels.
672Please respect copyright.PENANA2BE5IJXvba
"I can't believe this! I hate you Tara! I hate you so much! All my life it's been why can't you be more like Tara? Because of you I don't have any friends! Because of you my parents pretend I don't exist! Nobody likes me all because of you!" I screamed not even breathing through the entire speech.
672Please respect copyright.PENANAG9oY4fYcdD
"Maybe I should go..." May trailed off.
672Please respect copyright.PENANAJVqeab6yt0
I turned to her and glared even deeper as I screamed. "Ya think?"
672Please respect copyright.PENANAEErFnHxB3F
"Kara go up to your room, you're officially grounded!" My dad yelled.
672Please respect copyright.PENANAcgXiRpftSu
I turned my glare to him watching as he flinched back and then I glared at my mother as I stated. "How can you even call yourselves parents!"
672Please respect copyright.PENANAvXPYDY9Q8c
With that I ran to my room slamming the door. As I looked around. I knew one thing and one thing only.
672Please respect copyright.PENANAqyh2tccfEm
I had to get the hell away from these people before I literally murdered them!
672Please respect copyright.PENANAHgCJLBEKSQ
So what did you think?
