This section also comes from the proclamation of the angel Gabriel to Mary, for he said:

"Blessed art thou amongst women" (Luke 1:28) (confraternity)

These same words we hear from the mouth of Elizabeth, the mother of John the Baptist, for when Mary came to visit her, John leapt in Elizabeth's womb, and so she exclaimed:

"Blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb! And how have I deserved that the mother of our Lord should come to me?" (Luke 1:42-43) (confraternity)

In reciting this prayer, we also recall the words of Mary, who in this same discourse with Elizabeth, said:

"For, behold, henceforth all generations shall call me blessed" (Luke 1:48) (confraternity)

And in fact, in a way, by reciting the Hail Mary, we also fulfill what Mary here spoke, for all generations indeed DO call her blessed! 

Again, these words are echoed by a woman who, deeply moved by Jesus' words, shouted out to Him:

"Blessed is the womb that bore thee, and the breast that nursed thee." (Luke 11:27) (confraternity)

All of these point to one thing, that Mary is blessed, and indeed, I don't believe a single person could say she was not! How much more of a blessing could one possibly receive then being chosen, from all the women who ever lived, to be the one who would conceive and bear Jesus Christ, "God From God" (Nicene Creed). 

We must remember, Jesus was the only person in all of history who could choose his own mother... And he choose Mary!
