DOORWAE 1
Lillian slowly opened her eyes, she was enveloped in the warm blankets of her soft bed. Her violet eyes scanned her room, it was night time. Moonlight shone through her window, giving light to the darkness. The entire room was enveloped in a sort of, ‘silent majesty’. Lillian no longer felt tired and she rose out bed, her bare feet touching the floor.
Lillian looked down and saw that she was in her nightgown! She had no memory of changing, her cheeks immediately flushed when you thought about who it was. But, she quickly dismissed it. “Traveller may be a maniac, but he doesn’t look to be a pervert.” She reasoned to herself. Lillian looked out her window, and saw the full moon shining onto the rippling waves of the ocean.
She opened the windows and felt a cool breeze on her face, she thought about who might’ve changed her clothes. Lillian tried remembering the name Traveller had called this place.
“D-Doorway?” She whispered out.
There was silence, but then. “Yes?” Lillian staggered backwards, it was her own voice! Lillian spun her head around trying to find the source of voice, but she was unsuccessful.
“W-Who’s there!?” She called out.
“You called, dear.” Her voice replied again.
“W-Where are you?”
“I’m Doorway, I’m guessing that you have some questions, no?”
“Y-Yeah… w-what are you doing with my voice?” Lillian tried to keep herself composed, but it felt incredibly odd, having a conversation with what seemed to be herself.
“Mental transmission, I personally do not have a voice. I simply project my replies into your thoughts, that’s why you can’t find its source. That’s also why it’s your voice.”
“But… how does that explain why it’s my voice?”
“When given a message through mental transmission, the voice ‘reading’ it would be the voice that the person is most comfortable with. As it is with most, it is your own.”
“That, kind of makes sense.” Lillian said.
“Anything else, dear?” Doorway asked.
“U-Um… what exactly are you?”
“Dimensionally Overlapping Object Reverberating Absolute Energy.”
“What?”
“Also known as, DOORWAE, but you and Balancer 7 pronounce it Doorway.”
“B-Balancer 7?”
“The Traveller.”
“What about The Traveller?” Lillian asked.
“The Traveller is Balancer 7.”
“Um…”
“I shall explain.” Doorway began. “In the creation of All, ERROR created The Balancers to, well, keep balance.”
“W-Who created The Balancers?”
“ERROR.”
“E-Error?” Lillian asked.
“I apologize, but the language you speak is insufficient for ERROR’s name. It has no possible translation, so you perceive it as ERROR instead of what it actually is.”
“U-Um… okay.” Lillian didn’t fully understand but she guessed there was nothing that could be done. “But, what about The Traveller?”
“87 quadrillion Balancers were created, each given a multiverse and 2 dimensions. Balancer 7, or The Traveller, as you call him. He was the 7 Balancer created.”
“And, what’s ‘All’?”
“All is everything. Every universe, every dimension, everything that is possible, or even isn’t. That is All.”
“So, ‘All’ is like, the creation of the universe?”
“More like The Creation of Existence, dear.” Doorway said. “For every single Balancer, there is a Doorway. There are near 87 quadrillion others just like The Traveller and I.”
“W-Wow…” Lillian said, trying to take it all in. “Wait, if that’s the case… then, how old is The Traveller?”
“Balancer 7 is ancient, so old that your numbers are unable to even go far enough. The Traveller, however; he’s just about 15.”
“Wait, so he’s older than my numbers can go, and he’s also my age?” Lillian asked, confused.
“It is impossible for a Balancer to properly die. If they do receive mortal damage, they are restored here, given new form. A Balancer’s form expires rather quickly, though; their lifespan is just a few years longer than your average human.” Doorway explained. “Don’t go about asking The Traveller about his past forms, mind you. All memory-footage is stored inside me. Balancer 7 has no access to them.”
“So… every time he dies, his memory is, erased?”
“Yes, that’s a way of putting it.”
“W-Wow…” Lillian said once more. “Say, where is The Traveller?”
“Across the hall, dear. I can tell you’d like some time alone, farewell.”
“Um… farewell.” Lillian was then greeted by silence. “Well, that was an experience.” She whispered to herself. Lillian walked to her room’s door and opened up to the pure white hallway. She saw a door just across her hall. Slowly, she walked out of her room and opened the door.
She was greeted by an enormous room. Her jaw dropped at the sight. The walls and ceiling were made from clear glass, and she could see clouds floating past at such a height that it seemed as if there was a floor of cloud surrounding this ‘room’. Lillian looked to the center of this observatory type place and saw a rather plain looking bed.
She walked up to the rather-plain-looking-bed and saw The Traveller sleeping. He eyes were closed and his hair was slightly dropped over his eyes. Lillian looked to the plain green bed sheets, they were much unlike hers. Which had a blue floral pattern. Lillian walked up closer to Traveller’s sleeping face. She placed a hand on his forehead and wiped out from his eyes.
“Thank you, Traveller.” Lillian whispered before gently putting her lips on his forehead.
She then walked out of the room, where she had actually realized what she had just done. Her cheeks went full red. “W-What did I just do?” She asked to herself, had she actually just kissed The Traveller? It wasn’t on the lips, but it was still a kiss! Lillian had no memory of ever even being attracted to a boy before! Lillian walked back to her room awkward, she crawled back into her bed and shut her eyes. Still trying to figure out what had just happened.
