I breathed a sigh of relief and began walking through the lobby towards the elevators. I pulled the room key from my pocket, checking the room number.
As I waited for the elevator doors to open, I heard a commotion erupt behind me. It was a large group of teenage girls standing several feet away.
"There he is! There he is!" one of them squealed. "I can't believe he's here!"
"Jordan!" another shrieked. "Jordan Rand! I love you! I want to have your babies!"
"I'm your biggest fan! Jordan! Jordan! Over here! I know everything about you!"
I turned my head. Sure enough, I see the silhouette of a person's head walking through the lobby surrounded by a small group, who looked like they guarding him. Then a large gathering around them, taking pictures and shooting videos on their phones, no doubt trying to get a decent picture for their own social media pages. I couldn't see him through the crowd, but it was obvious who it was from the girls yelling.
I turned back to the elevator. Those girls were so pathetic. I would never want anyone to see me drooling over them like I was one of their ridiculous fangirls. Did they not have any pride in themselves? How sad it was it to be that obsessed with someone they'd never met? I would never be caught dead acting that way.
The elevator dinged, the stainless steel doors slid open and I climbed aboard. I washed all my thoughts of Vidcon away from my mind. I wasn't going to think about it for another minute.
The elevator started to rise, and my thoughts turned to my plans for the afternoon. I would get settled in the hotel room. Maybe take a nap in the cool air-conditioned room. I definitely needed to shower and freshen up, then hit the pool. After all had a brand-new bathing suit that I couldn't wait to show off
An hour later, I found the hotel pool in a tranquil outdoor setting, surrounded by a spacious concrete deck, a few tables and several white plastic loungers. The sun sparkled and glistened across the crystal clear pool surface. Now this I could get used to.
Holding my fluffy yellow beach towel, I flicked my wrists upward. The towel billowed out, falling softly onto the white plastic lounger.
I stretched out my legs, brandishing my brand new black Roxy bikini. If I was going to have to be at this convention, I was doing it in style. I got comfortable and relaxed. I popped two ear plugs into my ears, then settled in eager to continue to the next chapter of my audio book about Mermaids.
