Life's been busy, and I've been hard at work on my next book. So while we're waiting for the release of book 2, here's a little question and answer session for The Third Minddrinker. Just so you know, there will be spoilers from the first book, a lot of spoilers, so be sure to read it before proceeding. Feel free to submit more questions and I'll be more than happy to answer them next time.
Q: Okay. Let's start off with an easy question. What's your favorite character in your first book?
STW: Well, I really like Storm. She was mysterious, cautious, and had really cool powers. She's probably also really pretty.
Q: What inspired you to write the Voyager Agency books?
STW: I've always liked writing silly short stories about humans with superhuman abilities. Mind-reading has been one of my all-time favorite superhuman abilities, and that's kind of where the Minddrinker came from.
Q: Did you enjoy English class in school?
STW: Actually, I did not like English class at all. I absolutely hated English, but that was mostly because I hated writing essays. Creative writing and essay writing are very different for me, and I feel like I have control over narrative writing where literary analysis is much more subjective.775Please respect copyright.PENANA3wm7oTnauB
I did, however, really enjoy math class.
Q: You like math? Isn't math a lot of work?
STW: Work? Math class wasn't that much work. It was easy. And even when it wasn't easy, it was fun.
Q: Okay, then, weirdo. When will book 2 come out?
STW: Honestly, I'm not sure. I'm currently working Impossibility, the second book in the Claire's Impossibilities series, which will hopefully be out this year.
Q: Whose perspective will book 2 be in?
STW: Remember Emily Stevens, the member who finds Kathryn on her own near the end of the book? Book 2 will be mainly following her perspective, while Alice will rotate in like Kathryn and Samantha did in Book 1.
Q: Why did you have to kill Tiffany? She was a great character!
STW: Well, no spoilers for the second book, but Tiffany's death is an important wake-up call for many characters in the series. For one, it's one less clairvoyant in Kathryn and Samantha's strange conflict.
Q: Will we see Storm again?
STW: Most likely. I do have more plans for Storm…
Q: What's up with Kathryn Janeway? What's her problem?
STW: You'll see. I promise you'll find out soon…
