One night, while Joshua Madison and Katelyn Madison was getting ready for bed, their daughter Abriella Madison already fast asleep in her warm and light purple and green cover with a light pink quilt on top, four-post dark wooden bed with a light purple canopy attached to all posts. Katelyn's bright strawberry-blonde hair braided into a long braid that reached about an inch beneath her shoulders. Her light green eyes, tired because a long day at her husband's business that has been passed down between father and son for decades, met her husband's emerald eyes that also held the tiredness that matched her own. Joseph crossed the space that was between them and cupped his wife's face in his large and strong hands and gently nuzzling his nose to his wife's and brushing his lips over hers. A few strands of his honey blonde hair fell against her temple.
Katelyn sighed and melted against her husband's hold and released all of the stress and weariness and her husband took them all away. Joshua pulled away and rested his forehead onto her's and just stared into her eyes.581Please respect copyright.PENANAk3P1FOYYBe
“I wish people would just deal with their own problems for at least a day so we can spend the day together as a family with Abriella,” Katelyn breathed and Joshua's eyes softened and gave her another gentle kiss.
“I know, Katie, I know. But it's not like there isn't another lawyer/appliance company in our town and providence. And you know I can't jut ask one of my siblings to take over so we can spend time together,” he whispered gently to her.
Katelyn sighed once again and buried her head into his warm and soft chest. Joshua wrapped his arms gently around his wife's dainty frame. He buried his nose into her light red hair and took a breath of her scent that hasn't changed for the past twenty-three years, vanilla and a hint of coconut.
Joshua let his eyes wander the bedroom that he shares with his wife. A white and black fireplace set against one of the corners of the room with two black bookshelves that was on either side. A dark velvet red carpet lined the floor, starting at the light oak double doors and ended at the foot of the bed that shared many memories for the couple. He grinned while he remembered the first time they had been on that bed, that night they didn't do much sleeping.
He stroked his wife's back as he continued looking around glancing through the floor length windows that was on either side of their bed. A door was on the left that led to the master suite and down a little more there was another that led into his wife's beloved walk-in closet. Finally his eyes fell onto his old desk that his father and grandfather both used to do business at home. On it, two golden letters with a red rubber seal that was laid on the desk. His hand stilled and his wife looked up curiously. She followed her husband's eyes until they too fell onto the letters. She recognize the envelope, the same style of the one that announced her father's and brother's deaths when they were serving for the kingdom.
Katelyn slowly stepped out of her husband's arms and went over to the desk, Joshua following behind her. Joshua was the one who picked up the letter and his glasses. He placed them on the crook of his nose and opened the letter, then wrapped a trembling arm around his wife waist to both assure him and comfort him. He started reading:
Dear Parents/Guardians of Miss Abriella Ivory Liliana Madison,
Greetings from the Royal Castle of Vikara and Queen Elisabeth and King Wilton Croe. You must be surprised from receiving a letter from us, nothing has happened that this letter would cause anything but of goodwill.
For generations of the Vikara Royalty, the Crown Prince of the Kingdom selects one from the many girls of the country. During this time, the Crown Prince reads countless of documents of the girls that seem fit to become the future and loved Princess and future Queen of the Kingdom. The Prince does this process in silence with only the people that he has selected to accompany in his selecting and advises of his choices. Soon after the Prince chooses his selected Princess, the Queen and King sees what they need to do to help the future Princess and Queen. Determining on where she comes from and how much she knows of Royal Duties of the Court, we decide where she will go and when she will be married to the Prince and become the Princess.
Congratulations to you and your daughter, Abriella, for being selected as the future Princess and Queen of our humble and loving kingdom of Vikara. However, we must insist to not tell anyone of the information of the selecting of the Princess and who the future Princess, and especially the future Princess herself. The Princess will find out whenever the Prince sees it fit, or six months until the wedding of her and the Prince. If you tell her any of what is in this letter, we must have you tried in the Royal Court and tried to see where your fate lies, the most likely outcome of the trial will lead to you being sent off to a neighboring country with new identities and your past being “fixed” or you will be sent to live in the cells for as far as the offense goes.
To tackle the problem of Abriella's education, we will be sending her to the prestigious academy, Firelight Risings. If you are worried on the academy, do not fear because Nicolo has been attending the school ever since he was eligible, at the age of 15, and has since then loved spending time at the academy. Firelight Academy, while it host normal students from around the kingdom, it is proud to be the leading school for all Royalty and High Status. While she learns the basic curriculum of all schools in the Kingdom, she will also be taught the histories of past Vikara Royalty and Proper Etiquette and Rules. While she's attending the academy, she will not be able to contact you or any of her friends. Do not worry, for she will have many friends while she is there for our son will treat her with the utmost respect and introduce her to his own friends. She will be able to hangout with them between classes, after the school day ends, on the weekends, and the occasional Fridays (they let the students out of class on days of football and soccer games). On weekends, Firelight Academy rewards the students of various accomplishments, grades, and comments from the teacher with “fireflies” where they can spend in Firelight Village, which has various shops to decorate their rooms, restaurants to have weekend dates, and candies for them to enjoy. However, she will not be allowed to bring anything from her home for various reasons and she will be required to wear a uniform. Nicolo will explain the rules and regulations to Abriella and explain the culture of the school and the students and teachers. Uniform will be shipped to you with this letter.
We hope by sending Abriella to attend Firelight Academy, she will gain both knowledge of her future Royal Duties and Court, but we hope that she will come to trust and love our son for we believe he is already falling for her as we speak. We do know by withholding information from her will lead to a few problems in the coming future, but we believe she will understand.
Our son has asks us to be able to write his own letter to you and Abriella his own letters, of course Abriella's will not have his name listed on the envelope, rather he will be under a false name for the time being. His name at the school will under the name of Gabriel Balzer. He will be meeting Abriella on the train which will be her transportation to the school. While also meeting her, he will be her guide, or mentor, in her first year. He will be escorting her everywhere and will be looking after her in the years at the school. We promise that while under the care of Nicolo, she will be both protected, and in the upcoming years, loved by our son whole heart and soul and when she will be announced Princess of Vikara, be one of the most loved and respected Princess of the history of Vikara and be a wise and wonderful leader of our kingdom.
Your daughter will be leaving for the Academy on September the seventeenth and she will arrive at the school on the evening of the eighteenth. Their wedding between you daughter Miss Abriella Ivory Liliana Madison and our son Crown Prince Nicolo Angelo Sebastian Croe where your daughter will take on our name, Croe, and a week later will become the Crown Princess of Vikara, will happen in the year our son turns the age of twenty-one and your daughter the age of twenty.
Most Sincerely and Looking to the Upcoming Years,
King Wilton V. Croe and Queen Elisabeth R. Croe
Katelyn was the first to speak. She turned around in her husband's arms and cupped his face to force him to look into her eyes. “What made him choose our family? Why did he choose our daughter to be his wife? I just want our daughter to fall in love, not be in an arranged marriage.”
Joshua look at his wife, concern filled her eyes and her hands clutched his shirt. He leaned down and brushed a soft kiss to her lips to ease some of the tension in her body. “Sweetheart, you know as me that we cannot disobey the King and Queen of the kingdom. It's like rebelling against them,” tears started to pool in her eyes and a few slipped out of her eyes. He gently leaned down and kissed away the escaped tears. “I know you want our daughter to fall in love like we did, and I also have wanted it all these years, but we cannot wish it on her anymore, the Prince has chosen her as his partner.”
She released a stressful breath and collapsed against his chest. “I know, but I wish we had a say in this though.” She whispered which caused him to tightened his grip on her and place a kiss on the top of her head.
“They mentioned a letter from the Crown Prince himself, maybe he's going to explain why he chosen our daughter as his companion,” he whispered as he gently sat down the letter from the Queen and King, and then picked up the other letter and opened it. He then read the letter:
Dear Mr. Joshua S. Madison and Mrs. Katelyn R. Madison,
First, I'm going to introduce myself in the most formal way I can in this letter. My name, you must already know this but I'm going to say my name anyway, is Nicolo Angelo Sebastian Croe, Crown Prince of the kingdom of Vikara, son of King Wilton V. Croe and Queen Elisabeth R. Croe, descendant of King Vikara J. Croe, the founder of our a kingdom of Vikara. And now I am the fiancee of your daughter Abriella Ivory Liliana Madison, soon to become a Croe.
I started looking for my partner, my wife, my Princess, my Queen, and especially my friend seven months ago. I only had one person to accompany to advise me and to reassure me when I went through profile, after profile. I read many stories, some I know was fabricated to where the person would look good, some were sad stories that made me think about what I could do to help the country that I loved and others I considered but they didn't qualify or interest me. I almost gave up, until the person that was helping, skimmed through a pile from your town, and finally stop at your daughter's. After reading through hers, a smile stretched across his face and he immediately dropped it onto my desk, next to my head. He said that this one was the one I've been searching for, which caused me to glance up at him curiously. And you daughter... she was the one that I knew I could be friends with and become closer to each other to where we become great partners and eventually become in love with each other. I know that she won't fall in love with me the first time she sees me, or she's not going to be an easy character to learn because she's so shy. But I hope one day that I will see love floating behind her emerald eyes and I can finally hear her say the words that my heart has been saying ever since I saw her beauty and read her background. I knew that I want her to be by my side for all of my reign and life.
I know that I'm coming into stronger than most boys and stronger than my father was with my mother, but I know it is the truth that we were made to be with one another, and I can only hope that one day she will think the same way.
I must say this honestly, for one day you will be my in-laws, but I also want a tie of honesty that can bound us together, I rather not have her sent to the Academy. It's a great school, and I love it, however it will take her away from her friends, and I hate to say it but, maybe take her away from someone that she has taken an interest in. Her profile didn't mention anyone special besides you and her relatives, but I can only wonder if someone is wooing her and she's giving away piece by piece. I must not think of things like this, so depressing and all. But I am glad that I will be there for her through the upcoming days where I can guide and introduce her to my world, soon to become hers.
I swear on my life, my heart, my soul that I will protect your beloved daughter because she is too a beloved of mine, and will always be my first and top priority. I promise to keep her happy while she stays at the Academy and I will be there with her through thick and thin. I only hope that you give me your blessings one day so that I can take her as my official betrothed and my soon-to-be wife.
If you have any questions, you are free to send letters to me at Firelight Academy. I will answer any question and update you on your daughter conditions and happenings. My mother and father approve of it, so I hope you do so.
I looked forward to seeing and taking you daughter in the upcoming school years and the years to come. My parents already told you this, but I will be greeting your daughter on the train on September the seventeenth at 9:00 am.
With All My Heart and Gratitude,
Prince Nicolo Angelo Sebastian Croe
Joshua looked at his wife after he was finished reading. “He seems very sincere about this predicament and a overall well being.”
Katelyn nodded her head but her eyes still stayed wet from the tears that were not shed. “I just don't want my baby girl to leave us, she's just barely seventeen, Joshua. Abriella still has time before she's ready for a life of adulthood and taking own these responsibilities.”
Joshua leaned down and brushed a soft and tender kiss over his wife's lips. “I know, sweetheart, I know that you don't want her to leave. I don't want her to either, she's are only child and my baby girl.”
Katelyn skimmed over the letter again and looked at the dates that were on the Prince's letter and let out a quick intake of breath and Joshua immediately cupped her face and brought her eyes to his. “What is it, sweetheart?” He whispered tenderly.
Tears appeared at the corners of her eyes. “She's leaving tomorrow Joshua. Today is the sixteenth. They're having her leave tomorrow.”
Joshua sighed and placed his forehead on hers and gently placed a few more kisses on her lips before leaned back. “Sweetheart, you have to think. We do live quiet the amount of time away from the palace and the town that surrounds it. They probably wanted to give us a few days with her, but the mailing probably fell behind.”
Katelyn buried her head into her husband's chest and sighed, giving away. “Okay, I guess I can't argue with the Queen and King and not with the Prince when he specifically chose her to become his wife. What do we tell her tomorrow? 'Pack up you bags. You're going to a new school with no cost?' She won't believe it.”
Joshua strokes his wife's hair, well at least what he could pet, and kissed the top of her head. “I'm sure she won't argue with us. And she'll be happy that she's going to this prestigious school, a brand new horizon of opportunities, plus the Royals and the Prince said that he would like to send a letter to her. He'll most likely explain everything that can be explained.”
Katelyn shuddered. “But what if she gets in trouble, or if she gets sick. What will we do?”
“I'm sure the Prince will take good care of her, he gave us his word,” Joshua whispered reassuringly.
“Okay,” she whispered.
“Come on, my love,” Joshua whispered tenderly in her ear, “let's go on to bed, it's been a long day.”
