Clarification: Hollos-Plural and Hollo-Singular
Taking a deep breath, I crept towards the Hollo with short but careful steps. Each step sent my skin crawling, my hands were fidgeting with the trigger as my eyes stared at the hollo. To describe the hollo, it was like a naked human with rotten skin and it’s head was a pig. It was eating something, I had a feeling it was a deer cause I can see the antlers from the bushes. I exhaled slowly, I can do this. My finger was about to push the trigger when it stopped eating, it looked up at the sky, it’s nose sniffing the air for something.
Did it smell my scent?
Before I could shot it down, a shadow came out of the bushes and sliced the head off of the body, blood rained down from it’s neck, coating the forest ground with scarlet red stains. It landed with a thud, spilling out blood until it formed a pool around it’s body. “Damn it Scarlet!” Standing up, I spotted my comrade grinning like an idiot,”You almost got spotted!”
Laughter escaped her lips, Scarlet’s black eyes stared at me for a while before her lips formed into a frown. “Sorry Blythe, at least it’s dead.” Dead my ass you fucking shit, I sighed. Scarlet was about the same age as me but she still acts like a child, she returned her sword to it’s case and stared at the Hollo’s body. It smelled like rotten eggs and spoiled milk mix into one, I wrinkled my nose in disgust. “It’s head reminds me of Peppa pig,”Her eyes glanced at me then at the decapitated pig head. She laughed,”You do know that show right?”
Rolling my eyes at her, I scoffed at Scarlet before walking away. Why did Imdras chose her anyways? Sure she’s quick and has an athletic build but she acts so immature for a 15 year old girl. “Hey Blythe don’t leave me!” Crunching pounded in my ears, my eyes stared at the sky, she could catch up to me within a second. “You’re very rude.” She pouted, it reminded me of a child who wants to get a candy but can’t since they’re parents don’t want them eating sweets.
“Leaving your friend in a forest all by herself is very rude.” Since when are you my friend? Your just my comrade not a friend, I was assigned to be your partner because we have the same age damn it. Don’t go thinking that were friends. That’s not the only reason were partners, it’s because we are also classmates. So I have to put up with her annoying character in school as well, jeez why can’t I get a good partner?
“Hey Blythe I’ve been meaning to ask you something.” I turned to face her, she had a calm yet blank expression on her face. Long, black hair that is tied into a messy ponytail matches her black eyes and fair skin. I was taller than her by a few inches so she sometimes had to tiptoe or wear shoes that gave support to her height. “Your cousin, Sondra, does she hate me?” My feet stopped walking, I stared at Scarlet in amusement. ‘Oh Sondra.’ How do I describe Sondra? Well she acts like an older sister, a perfectionist, gets good grades and talks like an adult. Though we are the same age, she acts more mature than me. But she always curses and her flaws are that she’s timid, stubborn and a bit of a hothead.
Scarlet fidgeted her fingers, waiting for an answer to come out of my mouth. “To be honest I don’t know. Why don’t you go ask her yourself?”Flicking my hair, I brushed past her and continued walking along the path. “What did you do this time?” Scarlet walked beside me, she opened her mouth to speak but shook her head instead. ”Don’t want to talk ey?” I raised my eyebrow, there was silence for a few moments before a sigh escaped her lips. “I accidentally fell on her the other day,” Her face turned red, she looked away from me so I couldn’t see her redden face. “And well you can guess what happened.”
”Did you accidentally landed on her bosom?” She shook her head, my brain began to process multiple scenarios, my head began to ache from imagining too much. ”You accidentally bit her now?” Shaking her head, she faced me. Her face was beet red and I couldn’t help but laugh.
“I give up.”
”Come on I know you have an idea.”
”I think it’s wrong.”
”Just try it. You’ll never know if it’s right or wrong.”
”Okay, let’s see......you hit her forehead with yours?”
”Close but no.”
”Your face is getting redder.”
”I know that.”
”You almost wounded her nose?”
”No.”
”I don’t have any ideas anymore, I give up.”
Looking at her for an answer, I sighed. I wasn’t the one who gives up so easily but right now I’m dying to know the reason why Scarlet's face is like a tomato. “And here I thought you’ll never give up,” Shaking her head, her face showed disappointment. “I accidentally stole something from her.” How were you able to steal something from her when you fell? Unless, no I don’t believe it. I stopped dead in my tracks, my mouth twitched, showing that I was about to smile.
”Oh my gosh Scarlet.” I bursted into laughter, my laughs were probably heard by some Hollos but I don’t care, killing them is an easy task. Scarlet looked down, embarrassed to say anything nor to do anything. My sides began to hurt and tears welled up in my eyes, I stopped laughing for a second so I could wipped them away with my sleeve. ‘’Oh man I can’t believe you stole her reading glasses, how is that possible?” Scarlet looked up, she tilted her head and looked at me like I was a drunk weirdo laughing in the streets. “Let me guess, when you landed on Sondra, she was wearing her glasses, it got knocked off her and landed on your nose. You were to scared to speak so you ran, forgetting that you were wearing her glasses because of the embarrassment.”

“What glasses? I’m talking about stealing her first kiss damn it.” I stopped laughing, I thought it was a joke but her face said it all. It was quiet, the wind blew towards us from the north and whipped up the leaves that laid on the ground. The branches danced with the wind, some of it’s leaves were falling towards the ground where they will stay until the wind moves again.
My mouth twitched and my body shook as I hugged myself. Scarlet stared at me, her face soften and she reached out her hand. “Listen I kno-“ Loud laughter escaped my mouth, falling unto my knees I continued laughing like there was no tomorrow. “You fucking idiot!” Scarlet slapped my back, it stung a little bit but I was too busy laughing my ass. “The Hollos might hear us.” You’re worrying about that now?

The bushes rustled beside us, my mouth shut quickly like a mouse trap. Gripping my gub tighter, I stood up and aimed it towards the bushes. Scarlet unsheated her sword, we stared at it for a few seconds, I didn’t realize I was holding my breath. My heart pounded in my rib cage as we waited for the being to appear, no one dared to move. Suddenly, a small squirrel came out of the bushes, we both sighed in relief. “We were worried about nothing.” Chuckling nervously, Scarlet crouched down and smiled at the squirrel. “It’s just a cute squirrel nothi-“
SNAP
Blood splattered the ground within a second, my knees buckled beneath me and my hands shook. Scarlet’s eye widen as she stood up and took a step back. The dead squirrel landed on the ground, it’s body crushed by a strong force. There was a growl, it was threatening us to run away, telling us that it will kill me and Scarlet in less than a second.
”Another one,” Scarlet spat on the ground, glaring at the bush with fury, “Come out!” The bushes shook violently, I had a feeling that this was a tough one. Two long black spider legs cam out of the bushes, Scarlet smirked. “It’s just a big Spider Hollo, it can’t possibly be anything worst.” I wish she hadn’t said that, the Hollo came into view and stared at us dead in the eye.
It was taller and bigger than us, it had another two long spider legs at the back and it’s eyes were black and hollow. I was wondering how can it hide in the bushes when it was tall, did it crouch or something?
It had the head of a bird but it had no feathers, it’s body was bare like a thin naked person and it’s claws were sharp like a bird. It had the body of a horse but no tail, it’s color was gray and it smelled like dead rats. “Oh great I think I’m gonna get killed,” Scarlet muttered beside me, she ran towards the Hollo at full speed, ready to strike at it’s body with her sword. “If I die tell Sondra I’m sorry and that she’s pretty.”Rolling my eyes, I raised my gun and aimed at it’s head. It wasn’t moving which was weird, I was sure that it would attack us right away. There was no time to hesitate I need to kill this right now. Pulling my trigger, a loud bang echoed across the forest, making some of the birds resting on the trees fly into the sky.
The bullet flew towards the Hollo’s head, it aimed towards it’s temple. I thought it was over but to my surprise and to my horror, the bullet deflected off of the Hollo’s head and landed on the ground with a clink. It looked at me, it’s empty eyes staring at me with amusement. It tempted me to try again, it’s stare was mocking me, telling me to shoot. I bit my lip, I pulled my trigger.
BANG!
Once again the bullet deflected off of it’s head, laughter came out of it’s mouth, it was cold and creepy and it sent chills down my spine. “What the heck?!” Scarlet slashed at the beast, the sword bounced back which almost made Scarlet fall from the impact. “Damn, no wonder it’s not attacking.” I wish she would just shut up because the beast shot it’s arm towards Scarlet. “Scarlet watch out!”
CLANG
The sword stopped the beast’s claw from injuring Scarlet, sweat dripped from my brow as I watched them block each other’s attacks blow after blow. “What the hell are you waiting for Blythe? Shot the damn thing already!” Scarlet yelled as she blocked the claw that almost slashed her side, “Can’t you turn into something that’s taller and bigger than this thing?” Oh crap I forgot about that, I was relaying on this Hollo weapon more than my own power. But the cost of using this power is really risky.
I began to question myself if I should really use it or not, I don’t know what will happen to me after I use it. “I-I...d-don’t know..”My knees buckled from under me and my body began to tremble. I didn’t know what to do, my legs gave way under me. Falling on my knees right infront of the Hollo, sweat began to roll down on my brow. The only thing I could hear was the pounding of my heart. Darkness swallowed me whole, my breathing slowed and something cold washed over me that made me shiver.
“Gosh dangit Blythe!” Scarlet knocked me to the ground, the darkness disappeared in a flash and my body began to feel warm. “Get your head outta your ass!” She slapped my cheek, it stung and I was sure it made a mark. “S-sorry.” I mumbled, a loud screech came from the Hollo. It turned to face us, we stood up as fast as we could and faced the beast. It didn’t move and so did we, the wind was the only one making a sound in the area.
I closed my eyes, I have to use my power. Dropping the gun beside me, I took a deep breath. “You’re going down Hollo!”
