It was the middle of the night when I saw it. We had patrolled the entire port. We didn't come by any distress signals that night. So you could imagine why it struck me as odd when I saw a washed up, abandoned, pirate ship on the shore. "Well darling, I'm afraid this ship was lost at sea," said Mr. Eldridge. "If no one claims it within the month it'll be sent off to be compacted." I looked at him, he smiled, "... Unless we offer to take the ship on ourselves. We could fix it up and sail around the harbor if no one claims it." I smiled at my father. I'd been asking if we could get a ship for years now. "Can we go inspect the ship Father ?" I said, "Well of course, let's go !"
We walked abroad the grim and dull ship, as I walked toward the Captains Nook I noticed a symbol carved into the ship. I didn't recognize it at first, but as I look closer I gasped. It was a symbol forbidden in Sweden, where we lived, anyone caught with this symbol in their possession was publicly hung straight away. We're not even allowed to mention the dreaded name of this forbidden symbol, but it is known as the Devils Mark.
