May 2016
I smiled as I handed the teacher copies of the worksheets for the next day as the bell rang.
"Thanks, Elayna. You are really the best TA."
I laughed. "Thanks, Kam, see you on Monday."
"Yeah, have a good trip."
I grabbed my mini backpack and left the room. I went out to the parking lot.
I reached into my pocket and pulled out my keys' unlocking my car as I walked up to it.
I got into the black Tesla Model S, an early 19th birthday gift from my grandparents, and started the car.
I turned on the air conditioner and some music as I saw my friends walking up.
Aidan ran up and got into the front passenger as the other two got in the back.
"Hey, I called shotgun," Emily said.
"You snooze, you lose," Aidan sneered.
She rolled her eyes. "You're so childish."
"I think I bombed Bower's test," Josh spoke.
"Oh, did you miss the last one? It was a trick question." His sister told him.
I sighed as I pulled out of the school parking lot.
These were my best friends and my band members.
Aidan Lawson, who turns 18 in June. He had dark brown curly hair and almost black eyes. He's the bassist in the band.
Then Emily King, who turns 17 in June, just 4 days after Aidan. She has shoulder-length blonde hair and a fringe, with hazel-green eyes. She's the lead guitarist.
And lastly, Emmy's brother Josh. He just turned 18, therefore the eldest of us all. He's got fluffy, slightly curly brown hair and hazel eyes. He's the drummer.
"How do you know that? You don't have Government." Josh asked her.
"I was in there for the 3rd period to make up a test for Kamman's cause they were grading. I heard someone talking about it."
"Why are you so quiet?" Aidan asked me.
I shrugged. "I think I did pretty good on the test. It was open notes."
"Are you worried about what Grace is going to tell us?" Emmy asked.
Grace, our manager told us she had some pretty big news, but we couldn't tell if that news was going to be bad or good.
"I guess."
We got to the small storage unit we used as a practice space and began to set up.
Every Friday, we had a practice session where some people from our school came and watched, but they weren't supposed to be there for another 10 or so minutes.
Just as we finished setting up, Grace walked up to our unit.
"Hey, what's the big news? You freaked us out." Aidan asked her.
"Well, I got you guys the opportunity to go on tour with a huge band as an opening act."
"Really? Who?" Emmy said, setting her glitter-covered guitar down.
"Is it a world tour?" Josh asked.
"No, they're currently on the Europe Leg of the tour, you'd be going on the North American leg. It starts on June 30th."
"Who is it?" Emmy asked.
"Shouldn't they have picked opening acts months ago?" Aidan asked.
"They did, they had 3 but one dropped out last minute so they chose you."
"Oh my god, who is it?" I asked her.
She laughed. "5 Seconds of Summer,"
I looked at my friends and saw them staring back at me.
5 Seconds of Summer was one of my favorite bands.
"Are you serious?" Aidan asked her.
Grace nodded and handed each of us a piece of paper.
I quickly read over it, seeing that it was a contract with details of the tour.
"Why did the last band drop out?" Josh asked her.
"Medical emergency, but you guys just sign these, except Emily, you'll have to have your parents sign."
"How long do we have?" Emmy asked, knowing it will probably take a while to convince her parents, even if Josh was going to be there.
"Sunday, June 26th, you guys will have to be in LA to meet them and get ready for the tour, you'll leave for Connecticut the Wednesday after."
"So we'll have 3 days to get to know them?" I asked.
"And the entire tour." She laughed.
I looked at Aidan.
"Well, I'm in." Josh took the pen from Grace and signed his paper.
Aidan took the pen from him and signed his own before passing it to me.
I signed it and folded it, putting it in my bag to show my parents later. I gave the pen to Emmy.
Grace explained a few more things before she left, just as some people from our school showed up.497Please respect copyright.PENANAaEm2q8HUXC
