A swirl of cosmic dust slithered over Soria’s delicate fingers. The universe was awake and beckoning its master to greet the morning. The golden hue of the sun painted it’s radiance over Soria’s pale complexion as she leaned into the arms of her lover.
“You know I never tire of being joined together with you. Your body summons me like a bee to a hive.” Plexous swayed their bodies and recoiled his creation’s arm into her belly.
“How lucky I am to be so highly favored by the god of all creation. If I were not so wise, I would believe that you created me for yourself rather than my mistress.”
Plexous stared out into the abyss, a smile pulling at his lips. “My daughter wished for you and for her were you created. It was fate that brought us together and your beauty that has enslaved my body and mind.”
The warm touch of his lips trailed up Soria’s neck, while his hands explored her body. She gave into his affections and turned her head to expose herself further. Fire ran through every vein of her body at his touch. Her knees were weak and threatening to topple her onto the floor.
“Would you have me beneath you again so soon? Have you not had your fill of me, or is your appetite so ravenous that you would neglect your daily duties?”
Plexous pulled away from her chuckling. “I could stay with you for all eternity Soria. Content in knowing both my body and spirit would be fed with your glory. However, you are right Hailotia needs it creator.”
Soria moved to follow the man, placing a soft touch to his shoulder. “Your wife needs you more than your subjects. She grows evermore venomous the longer you stay from her bed. Your satisfaction is often paid for by the torment of those who care most for you.”
“A fact well known that weighs heavy on my heart. I have tried diligently to rekindle the passion between her and I. No matter what I do she can not moved past what happened. Everything that has come to pass has driven me closer to you and my wife knows that. She allowed it to happen and now seeks to place the blame on another so she can avoid dealing with our loss.”
“A weeping wound left untended will fester and spread. You have to do something to stitch those injuries, or they will grow large enough to swallow us all.”
“I will do what I can, don’t worry your head about it. You are innocent in all this. Honestly if the blame is to be placed, it should be etched onto Ephealia and I.”
The silver curtains of the temple slid open. From their parting entered Cientiam, Plexous’ youngest daughter. The young woman gasped and covered her eyes. She turned rapidly away from the scene before her and shivered in a bit of disgust.
“Sorry father, I had no idea you would be here…again so soon. Since you are here, mother is looking for you.”
Tying the silk ropes of his robe tightly, Plexous kissed Soria’s forehead. “ I will visit you again in a few days. Try to remember what I said.” He leaned down to kiss his daughter who shunned away .
“Oh no thank you father, I know where those lips have been. I would rather not walk around the rest of the day wearing the mark of your lust.”
“Very well my child. Keep Soria in good company in my time away. I am sure you both will have plenty to talk about.”
“I always do.”
The women waited for Plexous to be out of sight before they ran toward each other. The hug shared between them one was long overdue.
“I swear he never leaves you alone does he? Just as driven as a starving wolf.”
Soria laughed and sat down on her bed. “That I must agree but who am I to deny him. He did grant me life afterall.”
Cientiam waved hand over the linens of the bed, tendrils of light cleansing it of whatever may lurk there. Her face turned into a scowl as she worked. “We really should invest on having someone fashion you a sitting area untouched by you and my father’s rutting.” Pleased with her cleaning, Cientiam sat down beside her companion. She joined their hands and looked over her shoulder before speaking. “I heard mother talking about you this morning.”
“When is she not cursing my name? I cannot blame her though. I understand her standpoint. She has lost so much in a short span of time. Part of which I am to blame.”
“What happened to my sister was not your fault. Nor is what goes on between you and my father. Everyone is trying to find a way to cope in their own way. Some are just going about it wrong. All that aside I am worried about what my mother might do to you if this continues. Her mental stability is deteriorating, she is not the mother or goddess she once was.”
Soria leaned forward and kissed her mistress’ cheek. “You worry for nothing. Your father will always protect me as I would protect you. If lashing my flesh and degrading my name gives your mother peace I will endure it for the sake of my betters.”
The goddess ran her fingers through Soria’s hip length strands. Each fell through her palm like ribbons of starlight. “I swear she loathes you more over this than the things you do with my father. When he took her hair to create you she was shamed by all the other goddesses. That is when this all started.”
“I wish things could have been done differently but…sadly I had no hand in my creation. All I can do is try to pay for its crimes I suppose.” Soria looked at the floor, tears welling in her eyes. “What did you overhear?”
“Well mother was speaking to her friends about how she wanted to find away to part you from father. The discussed nearly every method save taking your life. Some of the things they talked about unsettled me. I am really worried about your safety Soria. You are my best friend, my only friend since I was a little girl. I can’t lose you. You have to start denying father and try to win my mother’s favor. Your life could depend on it.”
Soria stood up and walked back to the balcony. Her hands turned to fists around its railings. “We both know I can’t. I could never even try, the thought has never once been planted in my mind. When your father took your mother’s hair and wove it into my being he took her love and fealty with it. What they once shared, is now a curse that lives within me for all eternity. A power of control and seduction that I never wanted.”
Cientiam closed the gap between them and hugged her from behind. “You have to try! Would you rather be killed to have the curse severed? Would you leave me alone here with a mother who blames me for everything?”
Soria turned to face her mistress. She cupped her face in her hands much as a mother would their child. Tears slid over her fingers and dropped onto her feet. “If my death meant you would be safe then yes. I would die a thousand times to protect you Cien. You just…can’t possibly understand the weight I carry. Half of me is torn between loving and protecting you, while the rest of me is tethered to your father.”
“Then I will find a way to free you without it costing your life,” Cientiam spoke quietly. “Do your best to avoid my mother until I have found something or worth to share with you.”
