“You have to stop blaming our daughter for our own mistakes Ephealia,” Plexous whispered. “It is not her fault nor is it Soria’s that our eldest child is gone from this world. I should have been there, we both should have. Had my deal with my brother been kept none of this would have happened. Blame me and leave the innocent out of this.”
Matte black fabric drug the ground behind Ephealia’s pacing. Her hands were joined together in a fist below her reddened face. “I do blame you! You have taken everything from me! Our daughter, our only grandchild and this union that decays between us. We were supposed to rule Hailotia together forever in happiness. Now we rule together in sorrow and regret over three planets of shit. You continue to rub salt in cuts you have placed on my heart.”
“I do not know how many times I can apologize for all of this before you understand that I mean the words I speak! Do you think I wanted my firstborn to die? Do you believe that I wanted the only goddess I have ever loved to turn cold and bitter against me? All I ever wanted was to give you and our three daughters the world!”
“Yet instead you aided in turning our daughter into one. When was the last time you sent a scouting party to find her? Or even gave a thought to the hope of finding her? You have done nothing since your visit to the underworld. You were to far coiled in fucking your little whore!”
Plexous stood from his seat, fists vibrating under the strain of his arms. His teeth clenched so tightly they nearly broke. “Don’t ever speak of Soria that way! She has taken the role of mother where you have failed. She has warmed my bed when all I longed for was you in her sted. You did this, all of it. You concealed Plexsia’s condition from me when it should have been rectified the moment you found out. Had you not been so blind to the consequence she bore in her womb our daughter might still be alive!”
“I have done everything I can to try and make up for my mistakes andregrets as far as she and our grand heir is concerned. I have spent hundreds of years searching for my baby girl. You have forgotten her and seen her replaced by that bitch you used me to create. Why? Was one of me not enough to satisfy you oh lord in the heavens? What was your real reason for making her a mirror to my image?”
“Because I grew tired of my brother wanting to lay with my wife. Never knowing what he may do to have you. So I created Soria as Cientiam’s gift, hoping one day she would outgrow her. The plan was to send her to Drathell to live as my brother’s wife so that Hailotia could be at peace. Instead…when you sent Plexsia to who knows where, she evolved from friend to mother. A position neglected by you. Had you not let your grief consume you and used it to plant love into your other two daughter, perhaps I wouldn’t have called Soria to my bed.”
Tears rolled down Ephealia’s cheeks like acid rain. The endpoints of her sharpened nails drew blood from her palms. She walked to her husband, an eerie aura enveloping her movements. She pressed her forehead to his shaking her head in disbelief.
“You have done everything to have me kneel to this little mimic of a goddess. You stole the crown of glory from my scalp for her. You took a child who suckled at my breast and gifted her onto your whore. You fill her thighs with your warmth and plant your seed that should only belong to me into her womb. What will you do next? Kill me so that she may rule at your side? Erase the bones of the structures we have built so you can see them replaced by your new legacy?”
“ I have had my fill of your insults. I do not seek to destroy this family but Soria is of sound mind while yours withers away. You have had hundreds of years to process your grief. Others have moved on why cant you?”
“I should not have to! For everything I have lost, Soria has gained something in return. I tire of living this way! I want my life and my child back and it is your duty as my husband to return them to me.”
“I cannot return what is already gone. Nor will I allow you to ruin the lives of those who care about us due to your own regret. I have heard the whispers of your schemes to bring harm to not only Soria but our daughter as well. I warn you now Ephealia if you move against our blood I will have you imprisoned until your senses return to you.”
“Why not Plexous?! You are the god of all creation there must be something you can do,” Ephealia grabbed onto her husbands shoulders, clinging to him in a way she hadnt for decades. “Will you do nothing to comfort your wife and mother of your children?”
“I am unable to turn back the hourglasses of time. They spun long before my creation, their sands fell before life was even known. I cannot bring our daughter back, the best I can do is give you another to raise. I will only do that once I see you have returned back to the being I fell in love with. Until then things will remain as they are, not matter how painful for us both.”
“You could bring an end to your adultery. Perhaps then with time I could forgive you at least for that. We have to start somewhere or we will never be able to ascend from this pit of despair we’re trapped in.”
Plexous pried his wife from him and arched his brow. He turned his eyes from her view and bit into his lower lip. “You fail to understand how difficult it is to turn from Soria. Your love blossoms within her like an enchantment. One I would not part from. Don’t you see, I love you more now than I ever did and I will do anything to feel you love me in the same way again. I tried for centuries to rekindle our love and failed. For that I am sorry. Soria will never replace you, she is nothing more than a fragment of peace I have somehow come to muster.”
“Very well then husband. Enjoy your little mistress while it lasts.”
“Is that a threat Ephealia? Did you not understand the words I just spoke to you?”
“No, not a threat. It is a promise, one that fate will help me keep one day. Your cells do not scare me Plexous. What could a life of solitude do to me when I have already experienced every fear a wife and mother could face,” The goddess turned silently from her husband, leaving him to stew in her words. “When that day comes you will wish a cell was all you were punished with.”347Please respect copyright.PENANA2LaCuT1lsJ
