“Hah... Hah... hah...”
Zaylee panted as sweats trickled down to her neck. Small hair clung to her forehead as the clock rang through the early morning. Sunrays’ coated the see-through light gray and white curtains. Zaylee shuts off the blaring alarm clock as she sprawled on her queen-size mattress.
She closed her eyes briefly as a man’s silhouette emerge through her mind. It has been a long time that the dream chased her. She could not remember what he looked like, but the hot and steamy scene between them became her awakening dream. She let out a groan before getting up and heading inside the bathroom for a quick shower.
“Good morning.”
Zaylee greeted her parents as she heads to the toddler, sitting on the high chair and giving him a big kiss. The baby happily laughs as Zaylee rained kisses all over his face. His dark blue eyes stared through her, and his dark hair is neat combed to his left side, making the baby hairs stick to his forehead. Overall, the style made his handsome baby face even more handsome.
“And good morning to you too, Nathan.”
The baby let out a glee as Zaylee carried him and walked to the kitchen. She sees her mother stacking pancakes on a plate. She kissed her cheek and grabbed the plate to set it up on the table.
“Morning, Zay. Early work today?” Her father, Simon, asks.
“Yes, dad.” Zaylee sat beside her father as she puts Nathan back down in his high chair. “Emelie just finished settling everything on the court. The judge sentenced the rouge to 8 years with community service. Oh! Camilla and Hunter are coming back from their honeymoon. She wanted to drop by because Hunter wants to talk to you about something important.”
“Yeah, I just got an email from him this morning.” Simon sips his coffee as Zaylee eats her food as her mother, Sarah, happily feeds Nathan.
“What time will you be off today?” Sarah carefully wipes Nathan’s mouth.
“Around 5, why?”
“The girls wanted to take you out and Nathan. They haven’t seen you for so long.”
Zaylee chuckled as she wore her jacket. She kissed her parent’s cheeks and Nathan before drinking a glass of water.
“Breakfast, as always, tastes good, and Mom, Camilla is busy tending to her pack as a Luna while Emelie, as an intelligent fairy, is busy running around the court trying to settle the grudges between the supernaturals. I’m just a human being, a doctor, that has a good connection between theirs and ours. We have our own lives now, and Camilla is taking care of her twins.”
“I know, that’s why they decided to bring you, along with the kids, so you girls can hang around.” Sarah said as she gave two tickets to Zaylee, “Emelie delivered this from yesterday. They’re tickets for the upcoming festival. Have fun with my grandson. It would be best if you didn’t look like an old witch with wrinkles. You’re still young, so don’t stress out yourself. Your dad and I will be fine, don’t worry.”
Zaylee looks between her parents as she gripped the tickets within her hands tightly. She sighs, defeatedly, before giving in. Her dazzling smiled appeared on her face as she hugs her parents.
“I love you, so so so much,” Zaylee whispered before kissing their cheeks once again.
“Okay, kiddo. You gotta go, or else you will be late. You still got clients to deal with.”
“Bye, Mom. Bye, Dad!”
Zaylee wore her two-inch heels and quickly ran to her car as she closed the front door. Merging into the road, it wasn’t long before her company came into view. Parking her car, she boarded the busy elevator as she communicated with her colleagues.
“Boss!”
Zaylee looks up as she separated from her co-workers. A short blonde girl runs to her side as she handed Zaylee a cup of coffee.
“Rachel, your early today. What’s the occasion?”
Zaylee sips her coffee as she walks to her office. Rachel, her assistant, quickly opened her door as excitement appeared through her body. Glimmer and pixie dust flying all around the room in broad daylight.
“My sister is pregnant!”
“Congratulations, but you have to hide your glimmers before any humans see your true form,” Zaylee said as she took the papers from Rachel’s hand.
Rachel took deep breaths as her light blonde hair became darker, and the glimmers quickly disappeared without a trace. Zaylee skimmed through the reports as she sat down on her swivel chair. Rachel’s face became serious as she announced the schedule from her clipboard.
Zaylee’s day went by lightning speed. She checked the workers and their conditions while also giving out advice and tips to help ease their work. After her lunch break, she went out with Rachel, Adam, her personal driver during work hours, and Marcus, her bodyguard. The sudden visit to her stores and the runaway shocked the workers as they welcomed their boss with open arms. The inspection lasted for three hours before going to the headquarters.
Throwing herself on the couch inside her office, she breathed a sigh of relief as fatigue appeared on her sore muscles. Rachel knocks on the door before taking a peek inside. Zaylee tiredly rose and walked to her table.
“What is it?” Zaylee mumbled.
She took off her coat and replaced it with her trench coat. She grabbed her heels and sat down on the chair as she removes her slippers.
“The meeting that was scheduled for today is moved next week. Other than that, you’re free to go, Boss.”
“Hmm... thank you for your hard work...”
Zaylee grabs her purse as she left her office with Rachel in tow.
“Oh! Before I forget. My sister wants to give birth in our hospital because she knew that you're the owner.”
“She’s not giving birth in your pack? Aren’t faeries capable, better than humans, when it comes to handling on your kin?” Zaylee asks, eyebrows furrowed.
“She’s having twins, and her majesty, Queen Camilla, suggested it in the first place. And you also have the experience when handling supernatural’s babies.”
“Oh, well, let me know two weeks before her labour. I need to make sure that all the needed things are prepared and ready so nothing will go amiss. I will let Joshua know about your sister so that he can reserve an empty room.”
“Okay, Boss! I shall relay this information to my sister right away!”
Rachel saluted as Zaylee shook her head and laughed at her silliness. Rachel walked Zaylee to the entrance of the door and waved her hand before walking away.
Zaylee walked to the parking lot and opened her car as she dialled her mother. Settling inside the driver’s seat, she puts the car into the ignition as her mom answered the phone.
“Hey, Zaylee. How is your day?”
“Hi, mom. I’m doing great. I just got off from work, and I’m on the way home. Can you get Nathan dressed because I’m leaving right away?”
“Okay, honey. Your father and I will prepare the necessities. I just finished making you a sandwich to eat in the car on the way to the festival.”
“Okay, thanks, mom. Love you and dad. See you at home.”
Zaylee hung up as she pulled to a stop at the red traffic light. She turns her radio and hummed along with the relaxing music. Her brown eyes focused on the road, shined with excitement as she remembered her friends that she had not seen for almost two years. The light turns green, and Zaylee released the break as her footsteps on the gas pedal, heading to her house.
