After the summoning was complete I was greeted by a blue-haired individual. He was well proportioned and studious looking.
“Greetings master, I am the blue demon, at your service.” He said.
“Hmph!” I heard behind me.
“Hey, what’s wrong Auren?” I asked.
“Master, me and blue have a history…” Auren said.
I raised my eyebrows. “Well we’re on the same side now, so let bygones be bygones, by the looks of it, he’s pretty strong.”
“Master, is strength all you value?” Halien asked me.
“Hey, don’t start on me?” I said, “Strength’s a part of it, but just because you guys don’t like him doesn’t mean he’s worthless. And someone with aboriginal demon strength has to be somewhat useful. Remember, I only summoned you guys recently, we’re not at a point where I can take all of your suggestions on the other demons.”
“Ugh…” Both Auren and Halien deflated.
“Ha Ha Ha! Serves you little brats right! That’s right, I’m your senior, obey me!” Amber said, with a foolish grin.
“W-what, the lowly yellow dares to speak to me condescendingly?” Auren stammered.
“Y-yes, who do you think you are?” Halien jumped in.
“I’m gonna die if you guys argue anymore!” Traya said exasperatingly.
“Hey! Break it up, idiots! You know I was planning on naming you my head demon, but Amber you blew it! You're making Traya mad!” I said.
“W-what? You were gonna bestow that honor on me?” Amber said.
“Yes! But now I know you’re as incompetent as the other two, regardless of seniority!” I replied.
“Whaaaa!” Amber started crying.
“Master! Please, bestow me this honor! I’ll take it with pride and do a better job than the yellow idiot!” Auren cried.
“Hey, who made you in charge? I’m more competent!” Halien protested.
“Did you hear what I said? You're all incompetent!” I said.
“Whaaa!” They all cried.
“Stop! You're making a scene.” I said. “Claudia, you can be in charge of these idiots!”
“Of course master, I would be happy to…” Claudia said, giving me a dazzling smile.
“O-oh thanks… I look forward to your service…” I said, blushing.
“S-Silvi…” Traya said, voice dripping with contempt, “Are you sure of your decision to put her in charge?” She said with narrowed eyes and harsh words.
“Ummmm, Traya that’s not it! I swear.” I said blushing and waving my hands.
“Hmmmmmm,” Traya said doubtingly.
“O-okay? So back to you, you don’t have a name right? I can give you one…” I said to the blue demon.
“Yes master, right now I’m nameless, but if may I recommend my own name?” He asked.
“Huh? Do you have any ideas? Then sure, do what you want, but nothing too silly!” I said.
“Thank you, master, if so then I would like the name, Shawn.” He said.
Uh… Shawn? Shawn! What is Shawn! Of all the things, Shawn!
“Uh, uh, okay?” I said.
“Oh my, what a nice name,” Azuria said.
“Shawn is a nice name?” I said.
“Of course, I’ve never heard such a dashing name before!” She said happily.
My jaw dropped. Dashing?
Considering the culture and naming traditions of the demonkin, the name Shawn is unique and appealing.
Okay? That makes total sense… Ha ha ha….
“Well, I said you could name yourself so I guess you're Shawn now.” I said, “This is Auren, Halien, Claudia, Amber, and Lena.”
“Nice to meet you?” Shawn said.
They were still crying.
“Don’t mind them, nice to have you!” I said.
“No, the honor is all mine master,” Shawn said.
“Great!”
That night there was a great party and then we left for the next tribe.
While traveling, I trained in my magical arts. With intrinsic mana manipulation, I could gather magic within myself and manipulate the elements directly. Usually, mages use staff or wands to concentrate mana to do specific spells as a way to manipulate magic. With intrinsic mana manipulation, I was able to use the element directly and forgo spells entirely. And even if I wanted to use spells, the skill of not chanting let me bypass that.
I also trained my body. By gathering mana in your body, you can increase its physical capabilities, this is called body strengthening magic. It was a type of physical magic, but anyone with mana could reproduce it. I mastered this on our long days of travel to decrease fatigue.
All of my training combined was my effort to live up to the expectations of what a hero of magic should be. If I slacked off, I didn’t deserve the title. However, I usually summoned things to fight for me nowadays, and I rarely saw actual combat. The time I was an adventurer was the only time I really saw a direct magical battle.
The training was to compensate for my lack of experience, and any monster we encountered along the way was dispatched by my and Traya’s efforts.
As for me and Traya, do we have a good relationship? Nora had been awfully quiet about me and Traya interacting, so I was sure something was going on.
Recently I caught Traya staring at me and looking away quickly after I noticed.
Well, that’s something to figure out.
I grinned as I stepped off my boat.
I was in Marian, the port city that I originally left from.
I had gone through the rest of the demonkin continent, summoning aboriginal demons at every tribe center. Some tribes that had multiple colors got two demons.
I had left the demons other than Amber, Auren, Halien, Lena, and Claudia in the demon continent to help advise the chieftains and the head priests to administer the land. And on the return voyage, I cleaned the oceans of big monsters and made a safe sea route.
This was not only to ease transportation and increase information sharing between mainland Tephit and the demon continent that will make administering better.
Greeting me back were several people I knew well. Herbert, Jana, and Razana.
“Hey, guys!” I grinned and ran over to hug Razana.
“Your majesty!” Razana said, surprised. “Y-you're hugging me!” Tears filled her eyes and she started smiling.
I stepped back to avoid the snot and tears that Razana was expelling.
“Where’d you go?” Razana said.
Traya bonked her head, “Stop being so weird!”
“Hey what’s that about!” Razana protested.
Seriously, how did Razana ever get to be a receptionist?
I greeted Jana and Herbert, but then approached a young man that I was unfamiliar with.
“Hello your majesty, I am Rocco, the new leader of Marian.” He said.
“Hi, I don’t think I knew you before, what happened to the old leader?” I asked.
“He was rooted out, we don’t have much sympathy for corrupt nobles, and I was chosen as the leader while you were away,” Rocco replied.
“Yes ma’am, the people took care of most of the old administration and chose the new nobles to govern the land. Technically a new house can’t be created without your consent, so the leaders are only de facto in sense, this is one of the things you need to take care of!” Razana jumped in.
“Okay, let’s go back to the capital then. I’ll take care of anything that needs to be done there.” I said.
“Of course, let me escort you!” Rocco said.
“By the way,” Jana whispered in my ear as I left. “There’s someone at the capital who wants to see you. Apparently, they're affiliated with an acquaintance of yours. They are an adventurer, and has a gigantic shield with them.”
“Huh, I think I have an idea of who they are, let’s go home and check them out then,” I replied.
There was only one person who I thought could match that description, as I knew the acquaintance that the adventurer was affiliated with. In fact, he was right behind me, and his name was Ballaith Caisandoral, the hero of healing.
Sure enough, as soon as we got to the capital there was a person waiting for me.
“Greetings, I am Parson Garifs, most people know me as the hero of the shield,” they said.310Please respect copyright.PENANA6ts3NGRhxK
