Hello, all! Again like with my other posts, I'm not trying to intentionally hurt or offend anyone. I'm just going by what I know and believe. This post is also from a Christian's perspective (ME). Perspectives will be different depending on the who's reading this.
It's okay to like k-pop/Korean pop music. We all have different tastes. It's okay to support Korean stars. It's great to support and help other people! It's okay that k-pop is one of the reasons why you are happy!
What I believe is not okay though is idolizing k-pop stars. I have noticed that compared other stars in other countries, k-pop stars are the ones who are mostly idolized by their fans. There are a lot of obsessed fans in that genre. If you are a Christian, then you know that God is our Creator. He is the Almighty, He is limitless, and He is good. He is forever.
K-pop stars are humans just like we are. The difference between them and us is that they're considered celebrities while we (or some of us) are not considered that. They make mistakes like us, they have feelings and thoughts like us, and they are made just like us. We all have different purposes in this life, and God wanted us to have a pleasant time while we're here.
What is idolizing? Idolizing is obsessing over someone, being focused on them, thinking that they're the best, thinking that they're perfect, and more. If you are a Christian, think of this: are you spending more time trying to cultivate a closer relationship with God, or updating yourself on what's happening with a kpop group? Would you rather buy merchandise from your favorite k-pop group or would you rather buy something that reminds you of God or brings you closer to God? Are you more busy watching and listening to songs of your liked k-pop group, or are you more busy reading the Bible? Remember everyone that God created us.
