When I first came to high school, I expected it to be like a musical, I expected to be able to go on a table and start singing whatever song is trending at that time, but you could guess that I was more than disappointed when for first period I had History and not singing or whatever.
Obviously, we have that girl who is convinced she rules the school, (Tyra Mason) only that she is not like those mean girls in movies who actually do rule the school, only a few people actually fear her and she absolutely does not rule the school, she is just one of those mean girls who love being rude for no reason at all. She makes it a point to show how much she hates the popular girls (who are really nice) and how she’s not like other girls. You thought by now she would have received the memo that she had to do something about her ‘personality’ but girl is emotionally stupid.
Tyra sneers at Jamari and I as we walk past, I suppose I left out a small but big detail, Tyra and Jamari dated previously. I often wonder if I made the right decision by encouraging him to leave her toxic self since she threatened to commit suicide if he ever left her. For weeks I pictured her hanging herself and leaving a note accusing me of being the cause of her misery on this stupid Earth. She passes a snide comment about Jamari to her friend who fakes a wild laugh to catch the attention of her crush, which every single person who attends this school, old or new knows about.
Today class whizzes by except for Math of course where the textbook calls me stupid in seven hundred and thirty-six languages. Luckily, we didn’t get any homework today since exams are approaching in two weeks. (At my school we don’t get homework when exams are approaching).
I know Jamari still harboured some feelings for Tyra, but I won’t lie and say I wasn’t shocked when I saw her as a guest on lunch table. I say guest because I’m about to make this girl move.
Jamari gives me an apologetic look and I roll my eyes, he really is a fan of toxicity, huh? I see Kathy for afar and she looks about as shocked as me. Tyra smiles sweetly as she waits for the other two to come. Never did I expect this, am I about to faint? Before Shaniqua and Jacquavius notice the ‘new’ couple I point at them, we all share the same look before sitting down. Jacquavius breaks the silence first, ‘’ So, um, you and Tyra yeah?’’ Jamari gives an uneasy nod; we are visibly disappointed but honestly does he expect us to be proud. She leaked our insider secrets and spread rumours about us whilst doing that and he expected us to just go with this.
‘’Hi guys, I would introduce myself but I’m sure y’all are already familiar with me,’’ Tyra speaks slowly as if explaining something to her pets. She proceeds to pick something from Shaniqua’s plate who is too shocked to speak. I don’t know what comes over me but I just move over and slap her.
