Jane and Madeline walked down the hallway and overheard their parents arguing. The girls didn’t want to intrude so they just listened instead.
“I don’t like it here. Why don’t we just take the girls and move back to Italy, like I’ve been saying this entire time,” their mother persuaded.
Their father calmly replied, “Listen Angelica, we can’t start over again. We came to America to give our children better lives. I’m not going to waste all our hard work just to move back there again. I know better than anyone else what can happen to them over there.”
“I know who you used to be. I also know you can use it to protect out daughters.”

Jane brings herself back to reality. That was before their mother took Madeline and moved back to Italy. Her father always told her about his past to teach her not to get tangled up in the same issues. While in Italy, her father was very young and was often left alone. He would spend most of his days playing outside with his friends, but every now and then he would go of by himself and take a walk. One of these days he ran into a man named, Antonio Monti. This man brought nothing but trouble. He would offer young children weed and somewhere to stay. In return they had to work for him. The jobs they were often given were to steal and pick pocket strangers. Other times they were told to convince other children to join them.
