I stretched, resting against a stone statue of an angel with his hands held out. It was a tombstone for some poor religious man. The name was crossed out long ago. It was positioned in the middle of the graveyard, the centerpiece on the dining table of hell. I closed my eyes, resting my head against the feet of the angel.
"ALAZAR!" A deep voice boomed shaking the ground.
I sighed rubbing my face, aggravated. No rest for the wicked. I opened my eyes to see a man with his arms crossed standing mere feet from me. His blinding bleach blonde hair was covered in dried blood and soot. His fiery red eyes sparked with gold remains. His skin was burned and peeling in many places. Leaving red irritated, bleeding marks. He wore an all black suit, crisp but not clean, dried blood and ash covered his forearms and legs.
"Alazar!" He snapped. His pearly white teeth showed a pair of sharp incisors.
"Jesus Christ! What the hell do you want?" I snarled irritated, I had a throbbing headache.
"Don't you dare-"
"Yea, yea don't use Jesus's name in vain whatever." I interrupted him, I know just how to rub him the wrong way.
I could see the veins pop out of his head.
"You really are an unpleasant human."
"Tell me something I don't know." I groaned as I got up, stretching once more. I felt like one of the dead, aching and pissed off that they couldn't maintain their body anymore. I glanced at my grave, shaking it off looking towards Lucifer.
"What do you want Lucifer?" I sighed knowing it wasn't a pleasant request, or even a request in general. The bossy child is still in the middle of his tantrum that started before the creation of humanity, and it was getting tiring. The wind began to pick up, moaning in aggravation at his presence, the trees began to creak in betrayal, the water began to crash against the cliff in fear of the man's impending orders.
His black burned wings stretched out behind him, he flinched in pain. I almost pitied him. I've tangled with angels before, they were assholes with immense power, accompanied with a suffocating amount of self righteousness. They all treated Lucifer like he was acid, he was toxic but he was their family. Angels follow orders blindly slaughtering, and smiting, they were emotionless sacks of shit. I've fought off demons many times as well, a bunch of evil pricks. There are a variety of demons, a colorful selection of evil. I crossed my arms impatiently, he held no respect for humans, he had no respect for my hatred of being bothered by a giant tantrum throwing, self righteous asshole.
" I need you to retrieve Gabriel's horn." He said bluntly, in a commanding tone as if I was his slave. I looked him in his brightly lit red eyes, for two reasons. One: to see if he was fucking serious and two: I saw gold streaks in them, it took me by surprise how bright the gold had become. It reminded me that he wasn't a demon just a fallen angel.
I laughed holding my head. This was the most outlandish request I've ever received.
"You MUST be joking!" I gasped, between laughs.
I felt a burning, calloused hand grip my throat and a sudden immense amount of pain surge through my body. I could no longer touch the ground. I opened my eyes to see the snarling face of Lucifer, his hot breath against my nose.
"I do NOT joke." He growled. It has become apparent that he doesn't like to be taken as a joke, or laughed at. I had overlooked his very short temper and the painfully aware fact that angels don't understand sarcasm or simple harmless jokes.
He was a pretty boy. He was the twenty first century version of Hitler with a Ryan Seacrest sense of style. He took his fashion choices very seriously as he does his hair. God forbid someone talks about his hair.
His grip tightened, the wind screamed in anger, the ground began to shake, the trees began to thrash wildly with rage.
"You," I coughed, "You should know Lucifer, the Graveyard protects it's own." I smirked struggling in his grip.
He scoffed and let me go, I landed on my feet gasping for a breath. He turned his back to me, his wings tensing up and stretching out again. Usually any other time he would've killed me. I could tell by the way he looked at me, like I was scum, like I was a bug beneath his leather loafers. Lucifer hated humans, we were the reason he fell.
"You have the Graveyard Alazar. Everyone knows it's the entrance to hell and heaven. You guard the gates, you know where Gabriel's horn is. Only you can retrieve it for me." His tone sounded solemn. I could only guess that he was struggling with the fact he was so close to home and his prison.
"Why would I do that for you? Give me one good reason why I should do ANYTHING for you?" I snarled rubbing my throat, growling. He was getting on my nerves the arrogant douchecanoe. Twice the douche, there was so much a simple bag couldn't contain it all.
"Because," He turned to me glaring at me the gold remains disappearing, "Gabriel is missing." His voice cracked and he clenched his fists.
My eyes went wide. "The archangel Gabriel has gone missing?!" I nearly shouted.
"Are you going to help me or not?!" He seethed with anger, clearly losing his patience.
I ignored his question. I had heard nothing of his disappearance, heaven was quiet as was hell. Too quiet. I sensed impending doom it creeped up my spine, like a sickness it began to consume my body.
"The dead have said nothing.." I said more to myself than to the fallen angel.
"The dead have gone quiet for a while now Alazar you know this." He said in a low voice. He knew something was going on, he was keeping something from me.
"Tell me what you know Lucifer." I snarled taking a step towards him. Who was I kidding a mere gatekeeper couldn't intimidate the king of hell.
He rolled his eyes, sighing. I knew very little of Gabriel, he was the messenger of god, if he has gone missing something terrible is on its way. Something that has Lucifer coming to me for help, the self righteous loner. Something that has Gabriel on the run or something that had the juice to kidnapp. Something that has silenced heaven and hell.
"Earth is in danger Alazar." Lucifer said coldly taking a step closer. His red eyes piercing the deepest parts of the dark pit where my souls should've been. "What are you going to do about it?" He sneered in an almost teasing tone.
The wind froze, the trees stood deathly still, for I could not hear the groaning of the graveyard anymore.
It knows something monstrous and deadly is coming.
"Alazar." Lucifer said coldly.
"What?!" I snapped my mind racing a hundred miles per minute. I was giving myself a headache.
"What did he tell you on your tenth birthday?" He asked with a hint of curiosity and a bucket load of anger. I stared at him. He spat out the word He with such venomous hatred.
I looked into the forest sighing deeply.
My tenth birthday was the worst day of my life.
