With a heart clouded by past regrets,

And then suddenly she appeared before you,

Standing with her arms outstretched and open,

Sunshine Girl, you loved to call her,

For she was a light that shined through the storm,

Determined to help you break away from the clouds,

She always asked first,

You never had to do the same,

She waited first,

She was always there when you needed her,

She tried first,

It was like you didn’t have to try at all,

She cared first,

And you didn’t have to have a care in the world,

She loved first,

It felt like enough for the both of you.

Then,

One day,

Sunshine Girl stopped asking,

She stopped asking you if you had enough to eat,

she stopped asking if you managed to get to sleep,

She stopped asking when you got off work,

She stopped asking when you were free.

Sunshine Girl stopped waiting,

She stopped waiting for your next text,

She stopped waiting for you to get off work,

She stopped waiting for you to take a bite first,

She stopped waiting for you to take her out.

Sunshine Girl stopped trying,

She stopped trying to see the good in you,

She stopped trying to make things all right

She stopped trying to fix your bad moods,

She stopped trying to get you to love her.

Sunshine Girl stopped caring,

She stopped caring if you slept or not,

She stopped caring about your every mood,

She stopped caring what you thought of her,

She stopped caring if you cared or not.

One day,

Sunshine Girl stopped loving you,

Because loving you split her in two.
