Prince Cornelius Curnow lives in a magnificent palace in Scotland. He is the next heir to throne after his father. He only stays inside the palace because his parents do not allow him to go beyond the castle grounds. That means, he cannot go beyond the castle gates.
He loves to read books. Any book will do for him to read. His favorite place in the castle is the library. He goes there after his private lessons with the tutor or after eating breakfast. He would sometimes borrow books to read to his bedroom so that he is alone and focused.
Everyone in the castle thinks he is a really quiet and shy boy since he does not really talk or ask something from them. He is not mean either. At least they just let him be and let him do his own thing while they do theirs. His parents do not mind him so that they would not disturb him. The servants and the palace guards would talk about the prince since he does not ask too much from them. "He is trying to be independent. Let him be. He will become a great king someday.", his mom would tell the staff of the castle.
When he is learning lessons from the tutor, he always thought what it was like to be outside the castle. Would he be safe to be outside? Why were his parents not allowing him permission to go out of the castle? He asks these questions to himself all the time, especially before he goes to sleep. Ever since that day when those thoughts came into his mind, he made it his dream to go explore what is beyond the castle.
He started to research on the different settlement areas in Scotland. He found out that the nearest settlement area from the castle is Edinburgh. He photocopied a map of Scotland and went to his room afterwards. He marked Edinburgh to show that he is going there. He also copied notes from a book about Edinburgh. He was really excited with his plan. He believed that he was ready to see what is outside the castle.
