Chapter 5 – The Bewildering Discovery
“What?” Taj cried out.
“Yes. You – “
“H-how is that possible?” Taj exclaimed. Taj was a calm and collected person unlike John. She did not lose her cool easily and usually would remain calm at every situation wherein most other people would usually be petrified. Yet this time... she stammered... for the first time.
“Let me explain. The letter that Mr. Robertson had given me, I had delivered to a lady who did seem a little suspicious to me – I mean she had black hair with violet highlights and hardly wanted to speak to me. I noticed that she had a tattoo which said,
Amelie*Lucas*
I was hesitant to give the letter to her. However my doubts were cleared when she said the secret code of our office
ONLY THE STRONGEST WILL WIN
The code, as you know is a secret code only known to the employees at higher estimation. So, I did not question it and gave her the letter. When I was headed homeward, Mr. Robertson asked me to meet him. He asked me who I had delivered the letter to. I had given him the description for the girl had not stated her name. Mr. Robertson... was baffled. He informed me that she...she was a ghost. I was panicking! I held Mr. Robertson’s collar and asked him why he would send me for such a risky job! He said that both me and you are in danger. He explained that even though both me and him know, that I am an honest man and have not read the letter, Amelie will not. She will have the belief that you have read the letter and even told your wife about it for which she will try to.. finish both of us.”
Though John was very good at paying attention to detail, it was Taj that was good at putting the pieces of the evidence together.
Taj asked John, “What was in the letter?”
John continued,” Mr. Robertson did not tell me that. I asked him how he was so calm through this entire situation. He stated that he knew the inevitable doom was coming for him as he was the reason behind her death but he had no time to explain. I sprinted homeward to see if ..if you were safe. I did not want anything to happen to you. I needed to see you in the flesh. I needed approval that you were fine and that nothing had happened to you. It was a very windy day. I sprinted home to get to you when I fell and saw the headlines of a newspaper with a bus conductor killed....the same one I had talked to! There was also – “
Taj interrupted John’ almost uninterrupted and long commentary and asked, “What is Mr. Robertson’s real name?”
“Why do you ask?” John asked bewildered both by the question and by the fact that his wife had interrupted him for such a... question.
“Let me explain.” Taj said once again regaining her calm and collected voice.
“You see throughout the entire narration you called your boss ‘Mr. Robertson’. You mentioned about a tattoo
Amelie*Lucas*
You also stated now that Mr. Robertson was the reason behind Amelie’s death. This means that this man and Amelie have a much deeper connection than we ought to see in first glance. Considering you are unaware of the real name of Mr. Robertson what if...it is Lucas! Amelie has a tattoo of Lucas which means of Mr. Robertson. Thus right now more important than the narration, is finding the roots to the problem.”
“W-w-wow!” John cried
“You HAVE to know the real reason behind this lady trying to take revenge on your boss. For it seems as though he has hurt this woman very deep. I had read a book called
“THE IMMORTAL SOUL”
It stated that when someone dies with a longing for he/ she has been killed unjustly... their soul lives on the earth to take revenge against the person who has.. basically betrayed them and in turn either been a catalyst of his or her death or outright murdered the person. The soul only goes to rest once he/she has taken revenge on the person who had finished their life.. killed their dreams, aspirations and goals and put their entire life into an abrupt ending. You need to talk to Mr. Robertson and collect as much information as to what has made her soul so unstable and what he had done that she is after his life”
