相傳在古老的德國，一位騎士和他的戀人在多瑙河岸散步。

在水邊，他的戀人發現了一朵嬌小美麗的藍色花朵，愛慕不已，於是，便請求英俊的騎士為她摘一小束，勇敢的騎士在摘花時不慎失足落入水中，沉重的盔甲使他無法游泳，甚至無力呼吸。

在漂向死亡時，騎士卻不顧自身安危，把花扔給了他的戀人並大喊：「勿忘我！」
