Endomia is a large and powerful fairy tale kingdom, but that does nothing to protect it against the threats of rebellion and uprisings spreading throughout the land.
When her mother is fired, Cendra goes to the crown city to work as a maid in the house of a prestigious noblewoman and her two daughters. When the noblewoman's son returns from the university, Cendra finds herself confused by the feelings she has for him. But more than that, she wonders why he uses an alias outside of town, and what it is he's trying to hide.
Meanwhile, a man known simply as Mr. Black roams the land, fighting the king's men as well as the rebels, working for a purpose he keeps to himself. From his sword skills, to his cold-bloodedness, to his pet unicorn, everything about him is a mystery. As he goes about his business, he can't help but wonder about a young man he encountered -- the only man whose secrets he couldn't guess.
And girls all over the country are talking about the balls to be held at the royal palace, public balls to which people of all ranks are invited. The royal family has plans for what will happen at the ball, but so do many other people. Fairies, rebels, princes, housemaids, and Cendra -- all have their own idea of what will happen at the stroke of twelve.
Inspired by the Tale of Cinderella, though by no means limited to the plot line of the classic tale. This story holds danger, adventure, sorrow, and love, all blended together in a giant mixed up milkshake of awesomeness. Or something of the sort.
