My favorite part of Norse mythology, this is mostly part of their culture, but they viewed their "soul" as having multiple parts. Instead of the normal three parts ( mind, body, soul) I believe there are 9 or 10. I only have studied 8 and 6 of them are commonly known. One part if the living body, another desires. There is one part that is purely about your spirit animal. Another part is about transformation, their myth that a person can change their form. It is so cool to view. My favorite part of the soul is the "hamingia" which is a person's luck, but the luck is only passed down through their ancestors. So if your ancestor before you had terrible luck so will you and it will hard to turn that luck around. If you hamingja is good then that gives you the ability to actually use the other part of the soul that has to deal with shapeshifting. It is so intriguing! Each part of the soul is intertwined with another and has deep seeds in their myths. I am using it as a base for the magic system in my novel. :)
