The POV Experiment
Theme: Have you ever wondered what a chair, an old book, or even a forgotten key in your pocket might "think"? This contest invites you to step into the mind of an inanimate object and bring it to life in your writing. Choose any object, whether mundane or extraordinary, and tell a story from its unique point of view.
Challenge: Write a narrative from the perspective of an object. What does it "see," "feel," or "experience" as it sits quietly in the background of people's lives? Does it hold memories? Is it a silent observer of the world around it? From an emotional tale to a humorous twist, the possibilities are endless when the world is viewed through a non-human lens.
Guidelines:
- The story must be told entirely from the perspective of an inanimate object (a cup, a clock, a flowerpot, a door, etc.).
- Explore the object's point of view with imagination—how does it interact with the world and the people around it?
- The narrative should be rich in creativity, with the object offering insights, humor, or emotions based on its experiences.
- Maximum word count: 1,500 words.
Whether your story delves into the poignant history of a cherished memento or the quirky observations of an everyday item, make your object the star and let it shine with a story only it can tell.
