Plenn heard the bullets fly over his head and hit the wall in front of him as he sat under the overturned table. This wasn’t supposed to happen Plenn thought. He looked to his right to see his partner and friend, Rolan lying on the floor with blood on his chest, he was shot but not dead. Plenn reached over the table to return fire, but he was low on ammo. How am I gonna get us out of this one.
About 2 weeks ago, Plenn Vic had heard about a job from an unknown source: “retrieve the package without compromise.” those were the only instructions, along with the location of the package. The pay was high, but many people had gone for the “package” and hadn’t returned. What the heck, why not? I need the money anyways seems like a safe first job, get my name to be recognized, Plenn thought to himself. he decided to go to the guild room in the back of the bar to get the location of the package. When he walked into the room, two tall guys in black suits and completely black face masks, had asked him to put his arms up and patted him down. Once he was cleared to go in, Plenn walked in to a large room with no color inside except for one black desk in the back of the room with a frail looking man, dressed in all black, and wearing an all-white mask, sitting there, typing something onto a keyboard. “I’m here for a job?” Plenn asked in a curious voice. The man didn’t acknowledge him for a solid 15 seconds until Plenn cleared his throat. “And what job would that be?” the man asked in a raspy voice. “I heard about a retrieval job. Guys are talking about it all over the guild.” The man looked as though he had just heard about it for the first time, “Very well, the details are on the chair next to you, you will not receive the 5-billion-dollar payment until the package has been returned.” 5 billion?! I had no idea it was that much! Plenn looked around until he spotted a small phone sitting on a tall stool. He slipped the phone into his pocket and turned to leave, when the sound of the mans voice stopped him “Whatever you do, do not look inside the package, we will know if you do.” With that Plenn walked past the two tall guys and left.
Plenn walked outside to his car only to see his friend and partner, Rolan sitting on the hood of his car. “We got the job.” Penn told him. Rolan was a man of few words, but he was an amazing shot and a very brave man. He nodded at Plenn. “We don’t have much time; this document says we only have 1 day for retrieving the package.” Plenn got into the 87 Buick Regal he had tricked out himself and Rolan got in next to him and they started driving to their destination.
They had drove for hours on nothing but plain desert. “Where is this place? There’s nothing out here but dirt.” Outstretched as far as they could see there was nothing but dirt, hills, and some random bushes. “The coordinates say there only about half a mile away from here.” He stopped the car and got out to look around. Rolan got out and his eyes were fixed on something. He started walking towards a spot out in the plain. Plenn started towards him only to be stopped by a gunshot and a spray of dirt next to him. “Get down!” he yelled at Rolan, who already had his rifle pointed at the ridge of the nearest hill and fired a shot. “Were close” Rolan said in his deep voice. He walked a little bit further to find a chain on the ground, after lifting it, he saw it was connected to a trapdoor in the ground, without hesitation he jumped into the hole. Plenn was quick to follow. Once inside, Plenn and Rolan had both turned on their lights to reveal a wide and dusty hallway, Plenn took the lead with his gun drawn at the ready and walked down the dusty hallway. When Plenn saw they were about halfway through he put his hand up to motion him and Rolan stop walking. He listened. Plenn turned quickly and fired a shot pass Rolans head, nearly hitting his ear. A man with a strange mask and a large knife, fell with recoil from being shot. “Watch your six” he whispered.
They reached the end of the hallway with relative ease, no more strangely masked men falling from the ceiling trying to kill them. Once they reached the big steel door at the end of the hallway, they came to the realization that they had no way of opening it. As Plenn and Rolan stood there assessing the situation 4 more strangely masked men fell from the ceiling with guns this time, Rolan fired a quick shot from his rifle taking one of them down, but 2 more fell in his place. Plenn took out both of his guns and fired off shots in their direction, but more came from the ceiling. They were being trapped. “Get the damn door open! Were gonna die if we just sit here!” Rolan looked at the door and aimed his rifle at what he thought was the lock and fired, to both of their surprise, it opened after the shot. With bullets flying into the wall they both tried straying from the wall to get inside the room. The strangely masked men kept closing in on them. Rolan nodded to Plenn that he needed to go in before they both were killed. Plenn rushed to the door, nearly getting hit by the barrage of fire. Once he was behind the door, he yelled “Get your ass in here!” and Rolan tried to run from the safety of behind the wall to the door, but as he did a bullet hit him in the shoulder. They both got inside the room and shut the door, but with no lock it wouldn’t stay shut. Plenn yelled at Rolan “Get the package and we can shoot our way out!” but there was nothing in the room but a large table with nothing on it. More and more bullets hit the metal door, but it wouldn’t hold if it kept getting hit. “Flip that table over and get behind it!” Rolan strained to get the table overturned with his shoulder. Plenn fired more shots at the attackers and he ran to the overturned table and got behind it and Rolan collapsed in pain beside him. This isn’t supposed to happen, haw am I going to get us out of this one? Plenn pulled out both of his pistols and reloaded them with a look of determination on his face. The masked men had broken into the room and had started firing at the table. Plenn reached over the table and fired 3 times, taking out 3 of the men. He grabbed Rolan and put him over his shoulder and fired more at the men, each shot taking out one of them. He half dragged Rolan to the door after shooting more of the strange men. More of them were in the hallway, all lined up. “Lemme see your gun” Plenn grabbed Rolans piercing rifle and aimed at the lined-up men in the hallway and fired a shot. The shot only incapacitated most of them but that was the chance he needed to get to the end of the hallway. After firing more shots to more men who seemed to appear from nowhere, Plenn had reached the ladder at the end of the hallway. He pushed Rolan up the ladder and out of the door, after following him out, he reached the top only to see that they were surrounded by men with completely black masks. “Congratulations” a raspy voice said, “You have passed out test” and the frail looking man with a completely white mask stepped out from the small crowd of masked men holding them at gunpoint. Rolan grunted in pain next to him that’s it!? A stupid test?! We almost died! Plenn didn’t say this out loud. “Why did we have to retrieve a non-existent package and almost die? What is there to prove with this test?” Plenn asked the man. “Your loyalty and your execution of a plan.” The man said in a matter-of-fact voice. “Loyalty to who?” Plenn asked, “Why, Me of course.”
