The village of Devia was a small town secluded from the rest of the kingdom by a small ring of mountains. It scarcely saw travellers and no one dared climb the mountains to leave the village. The town consisted of a small village area filled with shops and buildings, surrounded by acres of farmland. The majority of the people in the village were farmers and owned the land outside of the town's centre. The people who lived in the centre were mostly rich, and even though this was a small town, it was a place where the rich were rich and the poor were poor.
The richest family in the village lived in the very centre of the town, in a large stone mansion. It was a beautiful place, with elaborate windows and doors, and flowers surrounding it and in its window sills. But, despite its beauty, the children in the village were afraid to go past it. The children seemed to be the only ones who saw the eerie feeling that the place exhumed, past the brightly coloured flowers.
The only child of the family who owned this mansion was a young girl named Casslyn. Casslyn was said to be the most beautiful girl in the whole village. She had long, shimmering, blonde hair and skin that was both rosy and fair. But the most beautiful were her oceany blue eyes. It was known to everyone that she was not unaware of her beauty. She played up her looks with fancy dresses and jewels of all kinds. Nothing was to expensive or elaborate for her father's little girl.
It was of no surprise to the village when it was announced she was going to marry Briston a rich gentleman, the son of a family almost as rich as her's. They held an elaborate marriage, in which the whole village was invited. Casslyn wore a big ball gown encrusted with jewels, and her hair was tied back with a silver hair piece. When she entered everyone gasped at the image of beauty. She looked like an angel and everyone agreed that they made a handsome couple. After the wedding the couple moved into the mansion to live with Casslyn's family.
A few months after it was Casslyn's birthday. As a birthday present Briston took her out to buy anything she wanted. Thrilled, Casslyn walked through the streets of Devia with Briston looking for the appropriate gift. It hadn't been long until they walked by a little antique shop where something caught Casslyn's eye. In the window of the shop lay a large purple jewel hanging from a silver chain.
"It's beautiful!" She said. "This one. I want this one."
"Are you sure this is the one you want?"
"Yes." she said
So they went inside and told the saleswoman they wanted to buy the jewel.
"Yes, of course." She said. "I found that jewel near the mountains, you know. Beautiful isn't it. Who knows where it came from. You enjoy it."
They left the shop, Casslyn's face beaming with pride at the jewel around her neck. They decided to stop for lunch at a pub but on the way Briston ran in to an old friend. Not wanting to keep Casslyn waiting he gave her some money and told her to find a nice place. Casslyn continued walking, alone now, until she heard a call from behind her.
"My dear!"
She turned and saw an old woman pointing to her. The woman scuttled her way over to her as quickly as she could.
"My dear, where did you get that pendant?"
Casslyn was disgusted by the woman's wrinkled face and hunched back but did her best to hide it.
"My husband bout it for me. Isn't it lovely. The woman said she found it by the mountains."
"You must give it to me." The woman said.
Casslyn looked from the jewel to the woman in shock. How could someone ask such a thing.
"Why?" Casslyn responded.
"It's mine. I dropped it on my way to the mountains."
Casslyn clutched the jewel defensively, " Well… Well, that's a shame. It's mine now. My husband payed a lot of money for it."
"I will pay what it's worth. Just give it to me, please."
"I don't want the money." Casslyn concluded. "I bought it therefore it's mine. Besides, this jewel belongs on a beautiful neck not an old, wrinkled one."
With that she started to walk away. But before she could get far the old lay spoke. Although she was not loud her voice seemed to pierce the air.
"Selfish, greedy child! You will pay for your cruelty."
Casslyn laughed. "And how is that?"
"You are with child."
Casslyn stopped laughing. "How could you possibly know that?"
The old woman didn't answer but just continued, "You will pay. You will give birth to a monster."671Please respect copyright.PENANAD0qRsdHcaT
"That's ridiculous." Casslyn said. With that she turned around and walked away, her head pounding with the things the old lady had said. It couldn't be true. Could it? She had often heard it said that witches lived in the mountains, but had never believed it until then.671Please respect copyright.PENANAchkrcuAzYo
A few months later Briston sat outside a hospital room, head down, foot tapping with excitement and anxiety. Suddenly the door opened and Briston stood up hardly able to control himself. In the doorway was a nurse holding a baby wrapped in blankets.
"Is she alright?"
"Your wife is fine." She said. "Congratulations, sir. You have a beautiful little girl."
With that the nurse showed him the bundle. The baby had a peaceful expression on her face, her eyes gently closed. On the top of her head you could see a few little blonde hairs.
"She's beautiful." Briston said, smiling. "She looks like my wife."
"Yes" the nurse said. "Quite a remarkable child. She didn't cry at all during the birth.671Please respect copyright.PENANAH0tuYgx65k
Briston's face fell. "Is she alright?"
"She's fine. We can't seem to figure out why she didn't cry. Now if you excuse me I have to take her to the nursery."
"Of course." Briston said, backing off as the nurse went by.
The nurse walked the halls till she came to the nursery room. She entered and placed the child in one of the empty cribs. As soon as she did the child started whimpering helplessly. The nurse hushed the child as the baby opened her eyes. The nurse fell silent as she looked down at them in shock. The irises of her eyes were bright red, like nothing she'd ever seen before. The child stared at her as she stood in shock. The baby's eyes suddenly started to change. The reds of her eyes grew untill the engulfed her pupils and the whites.
A few minutes later another nurse walked into the nursery, screamed and ran for help. The first nurse was lying on the ground beside the crib. Dead.671Please respect copyright.PENANAvT45QsC2At

It didn't take long for the village to realize that there was something horribly wrong with this child. It was decided that the brightest scientists in the village would study this child and find out what gave her such amazing powers. They realized that she never seemed to cry. Whenever she was displeased she just gave someone her deadly look. One day they took away one of her dolls and she got very upset. The result was an incredible shock of power that spread through nearly the whole building. Nearly everyone in that area died. The survivors realized that if she ever got upset enough she could destroy the whole village, perhaps even the whole kingdom. They could think of only one solution. They had to keep her away from all others and make sure she was never unhappy. So they took the mansion that had once been her family's home and turned it into her palace. They called the girl the Puella Domina.671Please respect copyright.PENANADkqq1di6uX
