Listen children, here is a story.
One day Ekkreth was a slave. They worked and toiled and suffered for Depur. They worked themselves to the bone. And Depur grew rich and fat from all that Ekkreth and the other slaves did for him. And Ekkreth was full of rage and fire against Depur's unfairness and his greed.
One day Depur decided that he needed new slaves. So he bought four children to work for him. A boy, a girl, one who was both, and one who was neither. The children missed their parents very much, and they cried invisible tears that could not flow out of their eyes and so flowed down their throats and into their hearts.
Ekkreth saw these children and felt deep sorrow in their heart. They went to the children and told them stories to give them a little bit of hope and lightness. And the children loved the stories very much.
But still, they missed their parents and they hated being slaves under Depur.
When Depur's back was turned Ekkreth would go to the children and would mock Depur in front of them, making fun of Depur's greed and his ego and his laziness. This brought the children laughter.
One day they were working out in Depur's fields. And the boy child threw down his tools in frustration. The girl child, the child who was both, and the child who was neither quickly ran to him and they tried to convince him to save his outburst for when the enforcers were gone and the work for the day was over. But they were mere children and did not know how to convince him.
Ekkreth saw this kerfuffle and ran to the children to fix it before the enforcers saw them. Ekkreth asked the children what was going on.
They replied that they had no hope and so much anger towards Depur, whose reign was never ending.
Ekkreth explained to them that Depur would die one day, and with him would die all his power and all his greed and all his cruelty. But the spirits of the Mother's children would live on forever.
The children heard this and felt hope in their hearts.
But an enforcer had spotted Ekkreth and the children shirking their work. And he had heard Ekkreth saying that Depur would one day die.
So he brought Ekkreth to Depur, who was very enraged to hear Ekkreth say that he would die. He demanded that Ekkreth be whipped for their disobedience. But Depur did not want an ordinary whipping. He demanded that Ekkreth's spirit be whipped alongside their body.
So Ekkreth was brought to the whipping post and tied down. The children were made to watch.
The whip hit Ekkreth and they cried out in pain. But they remembered the strength and the thick skin of the Dewback. And their spirit transformed into a Dewback and the whip could not get through their tough skin.
Depur was enraged.
"How dare you not take my punishment!" He screamed. He ranted and raved and he ordered the enforcers to get a whip made of a thousand knives.
And so they did. And Ekkreth was brought to the whipping post again. And they brought the whip down upon Ekkreth and it cut through their flesh and Ekkreth screamed.
But Ekkreth thought of the Gotapo tree that grew so thick and strong no blade could cut it. And Ekkreth's spirit transformed into a Gotapo tree. And when the enforcers' whip reached their soul it could not make even a line.
Depur grew even more enraged.
"What is the meaning of this?!" He screamed at Ekkreth. He raged and threw his arms up into the air and brought them down over Ekkreth's head. Still Ekkreth's spirit did not break.
Depur ordered a whip to be made out of whirring saw blades and brought upon Ekkreth. And so Ekkreth was tied down again. And the saw blades dug and ripped into their flesh and they screamed.
But Ekkreth remembered the rocky cliffs of the desert land. And how nothing could break the hard rock. And they transformed their spirit into the rocky cliffs. And the saw blades could do nothing to it.
Depur screamed and ranted and yelled in rage. He had the sort of tantrum that made the children secretly snicker, as horrified as they were. Finally he commissioned for a whip to be made of the strongest, sharpest materials in all the land.
This whip cost Depur a fortune but finally was made. Ekkreth was once again brought to the post. The whip tore into their very bones. But they remembered the way the river flowed and how nothing could alter it from its course. And their spirit became the river. And the whip could do nothing to it.
Depur once again flew into a rage. But Ekkreth's spirit came free and overcame their body. Then it transformed once again, and all of Ekkreth transformed with it.
Ekkreth's spirit and their entirety became a swirling sandstorm. And it swirled and flew throughout Depur's palace. All the people ran for shelter. Ekkreth the sandstorm broke all the locks and flung open all the doors of Depur's palace. They tugged and pulled against all the detonators and blew them to where the slaves were hiding. The slaves took the detonators and ran away with the sandstorm covering their tracks.
And when Ekkreth turned into a bird and took off into the sky, Depur was left with no slaves.
I tell you this story to save your life.
