"I feel like bridging the past to the present is an important aspect, and this is where world building comes in." E.G.
An aspect of Starfall Initiative that E.G hopes to remain unmatched is its ability to make every character human, just like what Arcane did with League of Legends. All characters in Starfall Initiative are and will be human-like, so long as they are human.
That is a major goal in terms of Starfall Initiative; to provide realistic characters in a future setting, with plot twists and drama along the way. That is at least, E.G's goals in SI:AE.
"I honestly feel it to be very important that people can sympathise with characters, as it makes them seem more accurate and more relatable, thus making the story as a whole a more interesting read. I can look at my own experiences and confirm this."
That makes the goal more important than ever before, and hence why characters should be a priority.
MIRA VOLKOVA & THE GALACTIC DEFENCE ARMADA
Mira's design isn't supposed to be charming or elegant, it's supposed to give you an idea of how tough things can truly be. Humans on a whole are not just a linear spectrum; not all of us have the same shade of colour in our eyes. In fact, every eye is different, none is truly the same. That was the idea when I designed Mira Volkova; I wanted a character that could redefine what truly makes a character unique."
Mira Volkova is E.G's proudest creation. In Starfall Initiative, Mira is one of the most fully fledged characters and one of importance in the universe. E.G has some big plans for her "favourite character to write" and many of those plans have different implications for the various different characters and storylines in SI:AE.
Mira was created as far back as 2019 with heavy inspiration from Warpath's Mira Ivanovna Volkova. E.G had taken a liking to the name and thought it stood out from the rest when creating a character for a roleplay, and from then on out SI's Mira Volkova was born. The interesting thing is Mira had been in E.G's mind even before Starfall Initiative had been conceived.
"A thing I really like about Warpath's Mira is how fierce the name makes her sound, and how it's also reflected in the clothes she wears. She quickly became my favourite officer when I played Warpath, which was on and off over the course of about a year. The game didn't really stand out to me, but the officer sure did."
Over the course of the next two years after Mira Volkova was created in roleplay, E.G developed her character and personality. Someone who started off as a charismatic, child-like supersoldier became rebellious and ferocious. The idea of the Lockheeds was inspired by E.G’s love and interest in Halo, the video game. The first supersoldier character was indeed Mira Volkova.
Mira as a roleplay character was not enough for E.G however, and when she began brainstorming her ideas of the world she had created, Mira Volkova was a major inspiration for her to continue. The world was wide enough for two Mira Volkova's so long as they were different enough from eachother; thus, E.G kept only the hair colour the same. The eye colour was tweaked to a lighter shade of blue, the hair style was changed and an outfit was created to correspond with the correct time period. All of this together lead to the first official character's creation as well as the idea of 'Starfall Initiative'.
But her personality did not satisfy E.G, the creator believing more work would be needed to be done. And so over the next couple of years, Mira was expanded upon and quickly became the most advanced character, carefully interwoven with the plotline of Starfall Initiative to further improve upon the upcoming series.
"I kept aspects of her original design; my version remained somewhat consistent, but the personality, hair style and middle name did. Her middle name was changed from Ivanovna to something else, which I will not mention unless I want to spoil SI:AE's plotline; it still kept that Russian tone let's just say. Mira was the sole inspiration originally for me to write a book, and that's how I ended up here."
But it was not just Mira Volkova who formed from the abyss; the title of the series and the Galactic Defence Armada also had a rather interesting pair of stories. The Galactic Defence Armada was not the original name of the militaristic force the reader knows in SI; for those who were part of the beta reading side, they would have known only the SDC.
The SDC, or Sol Defence Corps was the original name of the Galactic Defence Armada. E.G said how "it rolled off the tongue/sounded good" whenever she spoke about it, until the name was copyright claimed. She had originally taken it with the idea Starfall Initiative would be a fanfiction; it only changed when she realised further down the line the possible implications.
Following that event, Mira Volkova's creation inspired the creation of the Galactic Defence Armada's name and took the place of the SDC. In fact, the game studio behind Roblox's HCR-146 Emissary was where the SDC came from; they were also the people to copyright it. It was a bullet E.G had dodged, but only because she had realised what it could've done to her reputation as a writer.
And this is where the first part of the Starfall Initiative's name came from; Starfall, the studio that had created HCR-146 Emissary and also where Mira Volkova was being actively roleplayed as.
"I made mistakes, I know I did when I was roleplaying with such a toxic community. Through all of that though, it had inspired something within the younger me. Just like I did to get a 'job' on Roblox, I adapted to survive. In this scenario, rather than learning grammar at a young age I redesigned everything I ever knew, transforming it into what we have to do. Of course, most of the storyline is what I come up with on the spot - an unusual quirk of me - but the things that stayed consistent, there were three; the GDA, Mira Volkova and the name Starfall Initiative."
As she stated, she did 'adapt to survive'. She was younger, and she didn't understand the toxicity. She was witch hunted relentlessly regardless, and has since left the Roblox community and also the HCR-146 Emissary behind.592Please respect copyright.PENANAB92YaOItT4
"You're only young once, and I appreciate that. I've made a lot of mistakes in my short lifetime, and though the community I was in were toxic, outside of the times I was hunted I found friends in times of dark and now I understand what was wrong with what I did. In the times of light as well, I also was able to expand on Mira Volkova. The friends whom I played with also helped develop the very basics of Mira's storyline, and eventually the Galactic Defence Armada as well. There are still, many more things to cover but I've made a start; I know I can do this with the right people."
Throughout this time, early drafts of the original SI surfaced on her old discord server. Polls for the original name for Starfall Initiative, and an original cover drawn by E.G were promoted. The server was originally going to be used for the community behind SI, but this, as of the 28/12/22, is not the case. It is also important to mention the following;

E.G no longer uses Discord, though she was able to make more friends and contact writers to help follow her plans of starting the process of making SI into a book. Though she does miss her friends there, she knows she has to do this for her own sake.
"Advice to all you young folk out there; keep safe, and avoid discord. My biggest mistake was being on there, and predators and people who will hunt you thrive on that website. For all you make some friends there, you put yourself at massive risk of harm and the risk of irreversible damage done to yourself. I've been in that position before, and you do not want to be there. It's not safe, and will damage your mind."

E.G has since this pressing issue of hers been working on SI herself, a lone wolf wandering and searching for others to work with her. But with all bad things, there's good too.
During the events, she was looking for an alternative to the website Wattpad. She believed that Wattpad was great for fanfictions, but not so great for people who wrote their own books; their writing got swept under the rug by bigger, more powerful authors. Within less than a day of searching, she found Penana, a safe-haven for her where she started and quickly met @Cheeto, a brilliant friend of hers.
With her account now over a year old, and with the help of people she met here on Penana, she is happy to announce that the Starfall Initiative universe will only get bigger from here on out.592Please respect copyright.PENANAIt5aToXce0
