"Yoh... eish san!" Tebasto sang, hands on his head and face frowning in many different ways.
The dice on the table had rolled the opposite numbers of what he needed to win this final bet.
"The keys to your house! Now!" Kgosi demanded. "And that fancy ride of yours! Manje! Manje! Manje!" He added.
Tebatso grinned, "I don't think so!" He stared straight into Kgosi eyes as he quickly pulled out a gun. Sweat filled Tebatso's entire forehead, as he focused all his energy on keeping his hand still.
However, the trembles flowing through inadvertedly betrayed all his efforts. The shivers were barely noticeable, but Kgosi took notice, not to alert Tebatso to his observation, he locked a firm gaze again on his eyes. Tebatso's breathing adopted a light level of shaking, he prayed deep within that no one noticed it. But ofcourse, Kgosi's level of street wisdom was just too damn high, it would take a miracle and a half to fool him.
"I'm taking everything, right now in this very moment!" Tebatso exclaimed. He threw glances at all of Kgosi' men, "Anyone who attempts to heroship and thinks that they will save the day, you will explain at Kgosi's funeral why he's... he's in a... a coffin," he added.
Kgosi swallowed a smirk that rudely came forth. 'How could a man with a drawn gun be so nervous?' he wondered to himself.
Luckily Tebatso never noticed it, who knows how he would have reacted.
"Kgosi!" Tebatso called.
"Tebatso!" Kgosi called back.
Kgosi's men were so amazed at the level of calmness flowing through Kgosi, it were as if he was having an ordinary day.
"One of your men right now! Get to work, I want all this money packed in a bag and handed to me!" Tebatso ordered. "And I have a special request," he chuckled.
"Your wife... she's getting in the car and she's driving off with me," Tebatso demanded through hurls of laughter glittering with evil.
'Lomuntu lo uyahlanya or yini inkinga yakhe?' Kgosi pondered to himself.
"Oh, is that so?!" Kgosi responded.
Tebatso continued laughing, a huge grin stretched across his face, he appeared as if he was a hungry, sad, lonely, desperate goblin.
"You see my man, there's one thing you clearly don't know about me," Kgosi stated, waving his pointed index finger in the air, "My pessimism is my best friend," he paused momentarily, "Do you really think that you can get me just like that? Am I fool?"
Tebatso's eyes darted left and right as he wondered what Kgosi was implying. He told himself to stand his ground. and clear his mind. He stretched his arm further and the gun was closer to Kgosi's face. "Yes! You will be a dead one if you do not meet the demands I have just thrown on the table."
Kgosi chuckled and shook his head.
"Enough!" Tebatso yelled. "Get one of your men to work now!" he demanded.
"My money and my assets, I can forgive you, just maybe, after I torture you. But my wife? Na man, I think it's time you knew your Ancestors," kgosi said. "Thanks to my pessimism I expected this garbage you are doing now," he added.
Tebatso's heart almost skipped a beat, he knew something bad was about to befall him. The vision of a owl suddenly appeared, occupying his entire mind.
Kgosi whistled, Tebatso heard a strange noise, he turned quickly and there jumping onto him was a German Shepard, followed by a Rottweiler. The two hounds ripped his clothes to shreds and planted deep wounds. Kgosi walked calmly and picked up the gun that was now lying on the floor.
He ordered his dogs away and Tebatso laid there, in misery, defeat and embarrassement, to top it all of he looked ridiculous: the dogs literally made a horror show out of him. Kgosi laughed calmly and strided towards Tebatso. Tebatso looked up at him, Kgosi gazed into the desperation in Tebatso's eyes begging for mercy.
He aligned the gun with Tebatso's head, "Don't ever threaten my wife," he said calmly. "And better luck next time," he added. He pulled the trigger. The gunshot echoed throughout the warehouse.
"I'm the man of the streets wena san! Ngimina oyiyinja yegame yangampela," Kgosi said emitting a clicking sound from his mouth with his tongue. "Gentlemen! Clean up this mess!" He ordered as he walked off. "I must go play some video games with my son now!"
